We hated the slow speed, but posts like this serves no one.
At worst, this is a DNS attack. There may not be anything they can do under this regime.
Uhng..DOS attack. Coffee!
The true analogy is it’s like visiting a friends house but no one answers the door and all the lights are out.
It is a rather large problem. Too bad as well. I would love to be able to follow and comment in a live thread during a debate.
I just hope we don’t have these issues election night. My early plans are to have FR on my computer screen, MSNBC on my TV screen, a beer in one hand, and a cigar in the other.
It needs to be resolved. While some of these complainers are only noticing these issues now, it has been getting steadily worse over time.
Is it or is it not a capacity problem? Just because someone is not posting, doesn't mean they are not using capacity of some sort in just trying to visit the site. Add on to someone trying to post and hitting the enter key over and over....like 15 times...or more...and it bogs the system down.
Last debate I suggested some folks visit the two alternatives. Stubborn FReepers insisted on staying on a site with a closed door and a leaky tin-roof. Twitter a live thread, FB a live thread, Yahoo alt. ....etc. There are other options to keep in touch with other FReepers, it is just FReepers are a stubborn bunch. They'd rather complain at times than really communicate.
I did not even waste my time last night with FR and I won't bother election night either. The more that kind of stuff happens though, the closer to irrelevant FR becomes. And that is a shame, because there are some brilliant minds posting here.
Yeah guess what....it is NOT a DNS attack.
