The Romney camp and GOP operatives on the ground in key swing states think the wind is at their back.
A senior Republican told me Sunday night that Mitt Romney is up by two to three points in Virginia, which President Obama won by nearly seven points in 2008.
Two recent polls have Romney tied or up one point in Iowa, while two others have Obama up eight and three points. Private Republican polling has Romney up by one point.
Republican operatives, who see swing-state voters, by definition, as representative of the country as a whole. In the GOPs view, it is just a matter of time before the other swing-state dominoes begin to fall.
It is nothing new that Republicans are bullish on winning close states, but unlike a month ago you can sense the confidence that a Romney win is in the offing. The shift in tone, matched by public polling, has a real impact on turnout.

Democrats can stay home and whine while we get every last voter to the polls for a historic landslide!
No overconfidence, just massive actual confidence followed up by execution.
We are think it's time to NOT vote in another weirdo ~ Webb was the guy last elected to this seat.
9 or 10 more days. This keeps going and its this way in 9 or 10 days, even I will say its done.
Till the election night, Romney needs to run like he is 20 points down.
I called it a few days ago on the National Review firewall thread here on FR. Barry’s campaign was born in the Iowa Primary and it dies there...
If Romney is winning Iowa, we are looking at a 330+ electoral victory. Massive and huge.
What was it Bamster told the Republicans in 2009? Oh yea, “Shut up, I won the election.”
Even if thre GOP is down 2-3 in the some of the liberal statewide swing polls going into election day, our GOTV enthusiasm will trump and Romney wins.
I just read a new post on facebook that Paul Ryan is going to be in Bristol this Thursday at noon! Go! You will love it ;^)
Tonight may be the tipping point if the debate goes well.
Please, Lord, let it be so.
There are Bristols in CT, WI, TN, and VA. Are you referring to VA?
Even space aliens support Romney.
Bristol, NY too but I know he won’t be going there.
Virginia, at Universal Fibers.
