In a video address to the Social Good Summit in New York City on Sept. 22, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said technology makes it possible for anyone to be a diplomat.
We are living in a moment when anyone can be a diplomat, Clinton said. All you have to do is hit send.
The three-day summit was held during U.N. Week and was sponsored in part by the United Nations Foundation and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
The Social Good Summit unites a dynamic community of global leaders to discuss a big idea: the power of innovative thinking and technology to solve our greatest challenges, the summit website stated. This September, we want YOU to join the conversation with leaders and citizens from around the globe.
The most innovative technologists, influential minds and passionate activists will come together with one shared goal: to unlock the potential of new media and technology to make the world a better place, and then to translate that potential into action, it added.
Calling it an extraordinary platform for global engagement, Clintons remarks touted the summit.
Leaders from around the world are coming together this week at the United Nations seeking solutions for some of the toughest challenges we all face, Clinton said. And at the same time a revolution in social media is helping people everywhere take part in a global conversation about how we can work together to advance the common good.
Clinton said the state department is working to harness new technology that will strengthen civil society, fight corruption, empower youth and promote womens health.
Clinton encouraged people to become social media activists.
Share your ideas, Clinton said. Mobilize your friends. Take action online and off and help us ensure that this global conversation delivers results for people and help build a better world for us all.
Hillary thinks she's a community organizer now.
How's that working out for you, Hilly?
I know the dead Ambassador knows about the ‘send’ button, too, Hillary.
So, basically a big circle you know what.
Yes but if you are asking for security and sending it to Hillary, you are likely to leave the be-an-instant-diplomat group and enter a new category: the eternally democratic party voter.
Yep
There is no “reset” button for dead.
The timing of her comments is “not optimal.”
The Ambassador’s security requests went straight to her ‘spam’ folder.
And how convenient for the bias liberal media, Hillary takes full responsibility for Benghazi, then leaves town, out of sight, out of mind...
Wonder what all of our other ambassadors are thinking about now.
They ought to be making bug out plans based on how Stevens was thrown away.
VeeeRY good, there!
Except roughly seven hours before the debate I can’t get a reply post up without experiencing a tense delay, as to whether FR is going to be out of reach again tonight, and earlier than usual.
:(
I guess she really is the smartest woman in the world./s
Can we just hit send and send her to the North Pole or something.
Too bad she didn't 'send' help to the Americans who were murdered in Benghazi.
I wanna be the ambassador of Leichistein, or one of those really tiny really peaceful countries in europe, can I send my resume to Obama?
FR is my go-to place (and strength) during those times. I don’t know what to do w/o FR or Mark Levin. :-)
DON'T! You might end up in a binder.
Look at all the media sources calling for Hillary’s dismissal! Here, I’ll list them:
Is that a confession? Seems her only experience in life is as a wife and through osmosis she has gleaned experience.
So, I’d say, yes, Hillary, YOU are proof that anyone can be a diplomat.
