Stephanie Cutter insisted this morning on NBC that the attack on our consulate in Benghazi was not a “foreign policy failure,” and that the only reason people might think it was is because Republicans are “politicizing” a tragedy that could have happened anywhere in the world American diplomats serve. That’s true only if one considers the Benghazi attack completely without the context of the last two years of Barack Obama’s foreign policy, in general dealing with the so-called “Arab Spring” and specifically in Libya. In truth, we created the conditions for this attack, and then ignored the risks:

Hey, it was a non-optimal, bump in the road, spontaneous pep rally like at football game. Americans were killed? Who would have known, certainly not this crew of foreign policy geniuses. Dingbat is the wrong term entirely; she’s a LIAR, like the rest of the democrat party.

That only makes it worse. But even if he had done everything possible to protect those four people, failing to protect them is still a failure. Manning up to such a failure is not Obama’s style.

Dear Stephanie: in Stephanieland, things are just magically fixed! The rest of us actually have to fix things. And when we can’t fix something, we bring in an expert. If I have an electrical problem I can’t fix, I hire an electrician and he, or she, shows up with a multi-meter and electrician’s tape. If he showed up with a pipe wrench or a circular saw, I would know he’s not an electrician. A workman is known by his tools. In Benghazi, protesters would have shown up with signs and they would have showed up during the day so that the news cameras could easily photograph them. Terrorists show up at night with mortars and RPGs and machine guns and shoot them. I could see how somebody raised in Stephanieland could be so stupid as to not know that a workman is known by his tools, but those of us in the real world knew Benghazi was a terrorist attack in about 20 minutes. Love and kisses!
Four Americans died - that’s a failure, foreign policy or not.......
