The woman had a large blood clot in her abdomen and the doctor said she would die if the pregnancy wasn’t terminated. The Mormon man higher than Romney approved the abortion to save her life. She had other children and needed to live for them.
No.
She had a large blood clot and was given a overdose (gee wonder how that happened) of blood thinner. It also damaged her kidney.
This is what her doctor said, Sheldons doctor advised her that the overdose of Heparin might have also harmed her 8-week-old fetus and, given the possible fatal repercussions to her, he recommended that she abort her pregnancy.
When you parse that you discover that the baby was not a threat but that it might have been "harmed". So let's just kill it.
The abortion did not save her life. It did kill the baby though.
The story smells like a hoax .
It’s dors not meet the logic test and I bet the lady is going thru a divorce and needs cash or facing bankruptcy !

Spiritual advice is ADVICE, it isn’t forced. I take advice from many people when making choices. None of those advisors force me to take their advice.
That is what the flaw in the lib argument is here. People take advice from shrinks, psychologists, pastors, friends, and doctors.
The choice a person takes is that they are still free to make their own decision based on all the advice.
So.....why would she listen to or be influenced by anything Mitt said? Is she so stupid she couldn’t weigh what her doctor told her was best for herself and her other children? Unless....she was just another pro death for the unborn believers....I could see where Mitt being concerned for the BABY would hiss her off.
Seems Romney was under a different impression. He seemed to think the woman would live, but her child would be retarded. He was advising her that retarded children are a blessing and therefore, she shouldn't abort just because the child would be retarded. Did the woman at any point say, "Look, Bishop Romney, you don't seem to have the whole picture here. I will DIE if I don't have this abortion, and what about my other children"? If she did, the article does not mention it. So either something is missing from the story, or Romney was misinformed back then, or the writer is purposely leaving things out. Also, if the woman did end up aborting, as some Freepers are saying, then Romney couldn't have been too forceful or intimidating with her, since she didn't follow his advice! So what's the problem here?
I would agree with abortion in this circumstance. It is a sad and terrible choice, but I have to support it. Even if there were no other children, if the choice is between two lives, my personal choice would be to terminate. I would mourn the loss of the child.
