Really, sometimes I can't understand how Friedman keeps his job.

And yet, there are many who consider this ponderous twit a sage and visionary.

Yup - more government spending produces results! Like more debt and more misery.

If socialism was so great - Europe should be a success story. But even the supercilious Friedman is not that dumb enough to advocate we emulate them.

He says, “government using its limited funds”
1. Government has no funds, they take money from individual taxpayers.
2. There is no “free”.

If the left could grasp these two simple things, they might think some sensible thoughts from time to time.

The truth about rumors on this guy seems never to end. Separating the truth from fiction in Obama’s background is like undoing an historical train wreck.

1. Race to the Top in Education will produce more ignorant kids.
2. Race to the Top in Gas Mileage will produce more dead people.

Yeah, I can see how these would be his two faves.......

Yep taking over 17% of the economy, and then pushing the Volt off on the American public, now there’s two shining examples of leadership.

When we hit that 50+ miles per gallon as mandated, expect to see many deaths as people desperately try to merge with freeway traffic going 32 MPH.

The Volt wouldn’t cause this, but many of the other vehicles will.

Zero to sixty in sixty..., oh I can hardly wait.

What leadership, what a mind, what an asshole...

Freedman, back under your rock.

54.5 m.p.g. between now and 2025 — is already spurring a wave of innovation in auto materials, engines and software. “

....and green company banckruptcies. Easily said by another limosine liberal who married into his wifes’ family fortune.

Yes, but here’s MaoBama’s wife with the look of desperation:

http://www.breitbart.com/Breitbart-TV/2012/10/20/Michelle-Obama-Desperate-Plea-For-Votes

“I want to focus on our young people here. Your future” - Oh really??? How about the poster that says “MY child is not YOUR ATM??”

Oh, and now she says: “Change is hard”

“There’s going to be so many bumps” (hmmm... binders?)

“You see your president, how calm he is?” — YEAH right, he’s too calm in the face of a coming financial collapse he helped create. He’s clueless.

“Don’t let anyone talk down your dreams, deny your aspirations.” IMPLICATION, those evil capitalist want to TAKE something from you.

“Don’t let anyone talk down our country and our country’s future.” Do you have mirror, Ms. President’s wife? Your husband has spent 4 years doing it.

“We have come so far...” (Yeah, in the wrong direction)

She’s as dumb as a rock.

The mileage standard is complete fantasy.

Cars will be:

1) Much more expensive
2) Much lighter, with accompanying safety issues

And of course, the cost of a plug in like the Volt will look ‘on par’ with that of standard cars.

I can’t imagine how many econo-boxes the car companies will have to sell, to offset the low mileage of one pick up truck...but don’t plan on owning a pickup truck in the future, unless you’re a rap star. It will be throgh the roof.

We serfs should demand that gubment purchase fleets that meet the new standard. I want the cops in Smart Cars and the mayor’s limo to be a pedal power car.

raising the mileage standards for American-made car and truck fleets from 27.5 miles per gallon to 54.5 m.p.g.

If an auto manufacturer could do this tomorrow without sacrificing safety or performance, they would own the marketplace. Hence, every one of them is already working on it. Meanwhile, I would bet that the bulk of these "innovators" Friedman is talking about have little to no manufacturing experience. Hence, this is most likely another yet another massive infusion of cash into a slew of losing technologies, more welfare for Democrats.

His Race to the Top program in education has already set off a nationwide wave of school reform, and his Race to the Top in vehicles

It's always about Race with Obama.

[Friedman Obamagasming] ....his Race to the Top in vehicles — raising the mileage standards for American-made car and truck fleets from 27.5 miles per gallon to 54.5 m.p.g. between now and 2025 — is already spurring a wave of innovation in auto materials, engines and software.

This is a replay of 1974-1994, when cars were repeatedly downsized, cheapened, and depowered (already the six-cylinder options have gone away for Ford Fusion and Audi A4 buyers -- engine selection is being decimated across the spectrum because of CAFE).

So, Tom, how many people died in the 70's, 80's, and 90's riding in 1900-lb shoeboxes traveling at 50 mph that got crushed by 30,000-lb six-wheelers doing 55 mph? All legal beagle and stuff -- and even giving the Greenies their precious ******** double-nickel speed limit, which I'm personally convinced was NOT imposed to try to boost fuel economy, but to try to "cheat" on holding down fatalities in the shoeboxes EPA and NHTSA were asking Americans to buy instead of full-sized cars.

How many died, so that the Plymouth Arrow could get XX miles per gallon? Does anyone remember? Does anyone care?

In the 50's, the average 6-cylinder car (and most of them were still sixes weighing about 3500 lbs) got about 18 mpg.

So take a wild stab, Tom, at what a Dodge Challenger SE V-6 gets in town now, a car weighing 4100 lb and developing, d/o year-model, anywhere from 220 to 250 bhp, or about what Ford V8's put out in 1956?

Go for it, Tom. A. How many people died? B. For what? C. What's the mileage on that 4100-lb MOPAR six-banger? D. And why would we want to rinse and repeat, trading NASCAR-inspired 3500-pound spaceframe cars for 1700-pound Smart cars and their carbon-fiber, motorcycle-engined imitators?

The point here is not to bash cars old or new, but the people who want to take away our car keys, then our freedom to travel, and then everything else. Eventually they'll send people around to do bedchecks. Just because of the way they are.
