Romney nearing 270
The Washington Post ^ | 10/19/12 | Jennifer Rubin

Posted on 10/19/2012 6:57:58 AM PDT by TonyInOhio

~ intro paragraph snipped ~

Mitt Romney is now leading President Obama nationally in the RealClearPolitics average. He is over 50 percent in Gallup. No candidate over 50 percent in Gallup this late in the race has lost. His favorability rating (favorable to unfavorable) is higher than Obama’s. In electoral votes, when you average recent polling, he leads 206 to 201.

Romney’s team is “done” ( i.e. feels it has comfortably) with North Carolina. Although polling is still mixed, the Romney team believes it is ahead in Colorado, Virginia and Florida. If you are counting electoral votes that puts Romney’s total up to 257. A win in either Ohio or Pennsylvania would put Romney over 270. Alternatively, if he grabs New Hampshire and Iowa, plus either Nevada or Wisconsin, he’ll win the race.

Jennifer Rubin has excellent sources in the Romney campaign, and if she says they are ahead in Colorado, Virginia, and Florida, they are. I just heard Paul Ryan on Charlie Sykes' radio show, and he described the state of the race as "everything is moving in the right direction". He made it plain that they feel as though they are on the path to victory, and if they turn out the vote, they (we!) win.

Its not enough to be ahead by a couple of points.

Anything within 3 points the 'rats steal, so we must stay vigilant. Now is not the time to relax.

The way things are currently looking, I’d say Romney would get 300+ if the election were today, and barring any change in momentum, increasing numbers daily at this point.

Perhaps a “non-surprise” landslide repudiation of the FBP will mitigate the riots that will be inevitable if the ‘rats expected 0bama to win.

As a former Cincinnatian, and lifelong Reds fan, let me remind that the Reds, up 2 on San Francisco in the playoffs, were told that it was virtually impossible for them to lose.

San Francisco, and not Cincinnati, is playing St Louis for the National League crown. Cincy lost 3 in a row at home...proving that sure winners aren't necessarily so. (Amazingly, it looks like St Louis is returning to the World Series.)

...Monday nights debate will put him over the top. Odungo is left to play what he is naturally good at.....unprepared,lazy and uninterested in security briefings, personally aloft, and down right stupid.
The MSM early reports of #2 debate where Odungo “won” and all the hoopla of him being aggressive produced “NOTHING” as far as polling numbers for the little boy king...nothing!

I’d say at the moment it is advantage Romney.

That said, now is the time to double-down and work harder.

It all comes down to this. Go Mitt!!

I cannot relax or allow myself to be happy until polls in Ohio move higher for Romney.

I really believe all conservatives are in it to win it because this is a desparate race! Energy required to get people to the poles is there, IMHO. That, and with divine intervention, we should be fine.

The last time we had a Cardinals-Tigers World Series, it was a good harbinger of a solid, but still narrow, GOP win of the presidential election.

I appreciate your trying to make this disconsolate Reds fan find silver lining in that Reds loss.

My take away is this: Really good pitching absolutely must have at least dependable batting to go along with it.

They need to go all-in for Josh Hamilton’s return to Cincinnati. That single acquisition will, assuming he stays healthy and sane, will put this ball team over the top.

I hope you’re right about Virginia, but there’s just so many government bureaucratic employees that live there.

And they love their big government president.

Their big government president and his agency heads are sitting on a ton of RIF notices. These people must be driven out of the Federal Health System to make Obiecare work. The smart people know it and will be voting for ABO.

I'm a Tigers fan. I've watched the Reds long enough that I was confident they would lose. :)
