A new poll shows Republican Mitt Romney leading in Pennsylvania, a state that Republicans had all but written off just weeks ago but which is now listed as a toss up by the Real Clear Politics website.

Susquehanna Polling and Research provided The Washington Examiner with a poll it conducted for state party officials that shows Romney with a 49 percent to 45 percent lead over President Obama.

It's the first poll to show Romney leading among likely voters in the Keystone State.

Townhall editor Guy Benson : Just spoke to SQ’s chief pollster in PA. Says the Romney 49 – Obama 45 poll is based on 1,376 LV with a D+6 sample.

D+6 Poll and Romney is 4 ahead………………………Whoa.

DON'T TRUST POLLS ....TAKE everyone you know to the polls in Nov 6. IF YOU HEAR someone needs a ride to the voting booth take them...take as many folk as you can....DON'T TRUST IN THE ARM OF MAN, but IN THE ARM OF GOD...don't forget to keep praying and fasting for them and their families safety as well as a VICTORY! We are getting too darn complacent! POLL NUMBERS are FOOLS DREAMS...now lets go out and bring these puppies home!!

I would like to see more than one poll confirming this.

Amen.

God's arm will deliver the victory, but we can't be complacent.

As a PA poll watcher, I'd have been more optimistic if the courts had allowed Voter ID to stand for this election.

We are still permitted to ax for pix ID but the perps don't have to show them.

I'm hopeful that these numbers are real, but voter fraud in philly and pburgh is legend.

Everything Obama says to either cover up or spin his stories just increases the winds that blow at his house of cards.

According to the PA Dept. of State, the breakdown in RV is 37R/50D/13I for the state. I’m not sure what turnout has been the last few elections, but D+6 might not be unreasonable.

Unless I see at least two collaborating polls, I would say this is a simple outlier.

Why should this be a shock. PA is not “blue,” more like purple. They have a GOP Senator, a GOP Govenor both recently elected. Bush barely lost PA in 2004.

The media has told everyone that Ohio is wide open, NC is swing state, but pretend that states like Pennsylvania and Wisconsin with GOP governors and split Senators are off limits to Romney. People need to not believe all the media spin.

PA did well in 2010. GOP governor and U.S. senator and turned six congressional seats from blue to red. An excellent showing for what is supposed to be a blue state.

If GOP turnout in PA rivals that of 2010, Romney could very well win.

D+6 is optimistic. D+8 is probably realistic. There are a lot of Rats outside of Philadelphia and Pittsburgh that will be voting for Romney. Let’s hope that is enough.

The last five presidential elections were:

D +10
D + 2
D + 4
D + 9 (Clinton 49%)
D + 9 (Clinton 45%)

So D+6 may be a little on the low side but not by a lot.
