John McCain Slams Obama On Libya: 'Al Qaeda Is On The Run — They're On The Run Back'

MILWAUKEE, Wis. — In what appeared to be off-the-cuff remarks here at a campaign event supporting Republican Senate candidate Tommy Thompson, Sen. John McCain hit the Obama administration hard for its early response to the attacks on the U.S. mission in Libya last month.

Particularly, he fumed over the administration's early suggestion that the attacks were a spontaneous response to an inflammatory anti-Muslim video, noting U.N. ambassador Susan Rice's early talk-show account.

"Maybe in our U.N. ambassador's mind, there are people sitting around in their living rooms there that said, 'Gee, there's a hateful video there. Grab your mortar, honey! We're going to a demonstration!'" McCain said.

His remarks drew laughs from Thompson and two other Senators that appeared at the veterans-centered Thompson rally — Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson and South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham.

McCain's comments came two days after a memorable exchange between President Obama and Republican Mitt Romney in the second presidential debate. Romney accused Obama of waiting two weeks to call the incident a terrorist attack.

Obama pointed out that he had referred to it as an "act of terror" the next day in a speech at the Rose Garden. When Romney repeated his claim, moderator Candy Crowley interjected and said that Obama "did, in fact, sir," call it an "act of terror."

In an interview after the Thompson rally, McCain said that, in "some ways," Romney could have been more forceful on the topic. But he continued to hammer the president and the administration, calling the situation either a deliberate cover-up or the result of blatant incompetence.

"My friends, al-Qaida is on the run. They're on the run back," McCain said.

“Barack Obama is a decent person and a person you do not have to be scared of as President of the United States.”

STFU John, you had your chance and you blew it.

McCain and his little queer hand puppet Lyndsay need to to be run out of D.C. covered in tar and feathers for fostering the arab spring lovefest.

Imagine if McCain had this fire four years ago.

(Not that he would have been a great president...but he would have been a darn sight better than He-Who-Is-About-To-Be-Fired.)

That’s funny... I could have sworn that John McCain (quasi-D, Arizona) was on THEIR side.

McCain, go away, retire or just leave. Bad pilot. If not for his father we would not even know his name.

A stain.

Sung to the tune of HEY HEY WE’RE THE MONKEES

Here they come
On the tv screen
Blaming an old video
That no one’s ever seen

Hey! Hey! They’re the Democrats
And people say they monkey around
But they’re too busy lying
To get unemployment down

They’re just trying to coverup
Come and watch them sing and play
They’re a bunch of old leftists
Whose story changes day-to-day

Hey! Hey! They’re the Democrats
How many bodies will be found
So you’d better be ready
The Middle East is burning down.

McCain is just seeing how the wind is blowing and pretending to be tough.

He never had the guts to take on Obama like Romney did.

Obama has turned AQ into a world power. That was his task. Now it’s your task to punish him and erase AQ.

If this country is to be destroyed by dissolution, an Iranian nuke, or both, John McCain must share the stage with the Messiah. McCain is the one who blew his campaign in saying, I'm suspending my campaign, and his assurances to an elderly woman (who spoke correctly btw...) that Obama is a fine family man and would make a good President.

McCain and Obama, may their names live on in INFAMY!

INFAMY!

I just want him to shut the hell up.

No one cares about a sell out.

McCain was the top cheerleader for killing Gadaffi. If I recall, he issued some kind of apology for US support for Mubarek also.

Finally, he wanted the US to help the Islamists/Brotherhood/Al Qaeda take out Assad.

I don’t think he should comment any more.

“Nothing to fear from an Obama administration.”

That’s what you said, John. You foolish man. How can you even show your face?

Please just go way.

McCain is right but this was true when he supported the Libyan intervention. AQ commanders and volunteers poured in to fight Khadafi, and we supported them.

Its also a bit disingenuous to pretend there is any great philosophical or practical difference between Al Qaeda and Muslim Brotherhood. He was very happy to turn the middle east over to MB. Our government is riddled with MB. McCain doesn’t like it if you say so out loud, though.

Shut up, McCain! You supported the 0bama-NATO sacking of Libya. You even wanted us to put boots on the ground. You have talked about arming jihadis in Syria too. You’re a terrorist sympathizer and a disgrace to the uniform you once wore.
