Got to get rid of the 2014 OCare tax and penalty train coming down the tracks. Otherwise Romney’s presidency is cosmetic.

You don’t want oil at $50/barrel. It costs about $70/barrel to produce oil in the Bakken And Eagle Ford deposits. If oil falls less than that, it kills off a lot of American production.

1.5 to 2 trillion dollars being held back by business.

Romney isnt the one to determine anything other than foreign policy. It is the CONGRESS who determines domestic policy. Hasnt happened under this administration like that has it?

First thing is, a moving economy. Then the rest. Until then, nothing can, nor will be done.

We will never see a return to the economy of ther 1950s. Unless of course you reduce all of the other economies to rubble, which was what the rest of the world was recovering from back then.

I've spoken out against Romney as strenuously as anyone here leading up to the convention. I detest the games that were played with various primaries and with convention delegates themselves. It does not bode well, and Romney will at best be merely more circumspect about creeping progressivism, a little less quick with the trigger.

But, there is not a large difference between the two, Romney and Obama, other than this: for all his faults and weaknesses from a social and even fiscal conservative point of view, he does not hate this country. I've seen ample evidence that Obama does.

In the rough times that are just as surely ahead if Romney wins as they are if Obama does, I'd rather have the middling good-government type with at least some degree of empathy for and identification with Americans, than the barely concealed radical who wants to continue to damage the economy and the institutions of the United States in an attempt at remolding it.

There is no other candidate remotely positioned to unseat Obama. Obama has got to go. Beyond that, I have no delusions as to just what we'd be getting.

We'd be getting a slight improvement who would be adverse to rocking the boat too much, the very sort of politician that got us to this place to begin with. He'll cause problems too, just on a less breathtaking scale and on a less breakneck schedule.

He buys a little time and will have less animosity towards us. That's all we have this election cycle.

Sad, but it's so. I’ve chosen to try to work with it. Yet again. Getting tiresome, I'll admit.

You might well be right, but at the barest of minimums, Romney is not the vile creature we now call Mr. President.

Obama is the embodiment of treachery, and the most average American serving as president will be light years better for our country.

That's really all I can ask at this point. Realists are prepared to speak up when need be.

I still marvel at the cognitive dissonance of so many who somehow assume that the votes are actually going to come out the way we assume the people voted.

Cook County has gone national and there is not a single Marxist in all history that I can find, that EVER left power because of an election that did not go his way.

These cretins are playing for keeps - and the rules do not matter, only the ends are justified by whatever means they can accomplish. Sadly, the Ruling Class seems to know where the power is going to lie - and based on their actions - are doing everything they can to share in it.

I’m thinking past November and I will not be a bit surprised when America finds itself in a state of shock that Obama will remain in power past January.

And if by some miraculous twist, and defiance of history Romney actually assumes office - I do not expect a damn thing to change in terms of where we now find ourselves. The consequences of the last 4 years have not even begun to fully bloom. Once they do - I expect the Ruling Class will do as the Ruling Class always does; preserve itself at the expense of the rest of us.

We will also be hiring a number of new people to expand both businesses. That is the boom that's coming.

I'm with Cripple Creek. Obamacare will not be repealed making hiring still iffy. And while I don't have anything against Romney he wont be able to get it done. There is no one that can lead us from the inevitable crash and burn that has to take place.

Three days after Romney takes office the MSM will decide that Romney is responsible for everything in the economy. Obama got a 4 year 'pass' from the MSM - Romney will NOT even get 4 days.

Also, the homeless will be back on page one - they've been AWOL - and unemployment numbers above 5 will be a disaster. The MSM gets bias - it's their stock and trade.

-— Willard is not Reagan ——

True, but Reagan didn’t have the House or Senate, did he? Looking back, it’s amazing that he accomplished so much.

I do think things will turn around right away. Business expansions have been put on hold for years. Businesses are lean. A lot have cash. Politically, the Tea Party movement is strong, and can pressure Mitt. I’m sure a few Dem senators can be pressured to cross the aisle.

Let’s just pray that we get to this problem.

You won’t notice the difference other than a few smiles. People out of work can’t spend. And on Nov 7th they’ll still be out of work and gas will still be $4 a gallon.

I appreciate others who try to rationally think outside of the box, without being conspiracy theory paranoiac nutcases.

“I guess you need to be reminded that this is a Conservative forum, not a Republican forum, and that Mitt Romney is NOT a Conservative. In fact, he enabled Obamacare via Romneycare.

So don't start celebrating yet.”

Wow, thanks for the reminder...almost forgot.

I remember all the “conservative” FReepers joining the likes of Politico when they were trashing our early GOP field like Bachmann, Cain, Perry, and Santorum. These same “conservatives” are now bitching that we're stuck with Romney. Pfft.
