If you want more time to get your message out in debates, its good to be a Democrat.
According to the CNN debate clock, President Obama spoke at greater length than Mitt Romney during both debates, as did Vice President Biden during his debate with Paul Ryan...

I agree with the math, only in this case we have experience and reason about our inputs.
For example, I have a production crew that has been previously caught drinking on Fridays. I notice that after several months the quality control reports are trending down on Fridays but not enough to get alarmed about. In this case I have a known variable which will cause a decrease in quality but it is not expected to be present. Because I know about this variable, it should cause concern.
In the instant case, we have an unfounded assumption that the moderator and both candidates will be fair about time.
Really? You’re going to compare the debate and giving rats more time in all 3 to an egineering project?
Once again it takes 3 points to show a trend (in this case...maybe not in the egnineering world though).
Now can we let it rest?
The complete Lekson package.....
Everybody knew everything
Distance was not a problem
There are no coincidences
Bert’s corollary
The kids moved away
The old folks died (and left residences pretty much intact)
I suspect the Obama has already beat us to that punch by insisting upon his “moderators” or no debate.
Frankly as Mitt proved its better to at least have a form where you can dispute their lies, slanders, and argumentation flaws than to have nothing at all.
Remember the Democrats owe the media and and ground campaign with their army of ideological and Government paided minions.
Knowing the natural weakness of their case, and falsehood of their claims. I think we should think ourselves extremely lucky that they agreed to any debate at all. For without a debate they have the advantage.
All potential debate mods should go in a pool. Each side should be able to pick two from the pool for the 4 debates.
Come now; that's an insult to Hufflepuffs:
"You might belong in Hufflepuff,
Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient Hufflepuffs are true,
And unafraid of toil"
The Sorting Hat
That sure doesn't sound like a description of the Republican party. Loyal? Do you remember NY23?
Just? Look at the acceptance they've shown for the GCA, NFA, the War on Drugs and "Commerce Clause" justifications of federal power.
Unafraid of toil? When was the last time they worked toward a stated party-plank? And to tie in with just, when was the last time they tried to illegalize Abortion and/or overturn Roe v. Wade?
“I think it was Ben Franklin that said, best remain silent and be thought of a fool. Then to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”
It may have come from Ben Franklin, but he was quoting a Bible Scripture in Proverbs! :)
I was thinking more like OOP.
Said Hufflepuff, “I’ll teach the lot,
And treat them just the same.”
Those neither hot not cold, not outstanding enough to rate any other House.
Building a country is an engineering project of some magnitude.
Fair about time or anything else!
Hm, interesting; were I to express that sentiment I'd likely reference vomit/spew.
Would you look at the time! It’s 3:16...
Please use statistics correctly if you are you going to pretend to use them.
For example, there are not THREE measurements here. There were three debates. Each debate had a number of questions. The measurement to be used is the excess timing for each question.
Second, you have yet to express what the sigma for this event should be. If each candidate has 120 seconds to speak, the excess should be on the order of a few seconds. Accumulating a 180 plus overage during an entire debate is a lot of excess.
You have yet to specify what the sigma is you are using/claiming. I would assert, without doing the math, that a 3 minute overage would be outside the 3 sigma limit where a single occurance is sufficient to show bias.
You are assuming a normal distribution. That may not be a valid assumption for this process.
The latest explanation coming from LIB-planet dwellers is that it is “because nobama speaks more slowly”. LOL.
A question by question breakdown would give a clearer idea, but the times for each question were not available to me.
Data from every moderated presidential debate since they started them would also be illuminating, especially any kinks occasioned by the introductions of telegraph, telephone, radio, TV and internet coverage.
No data available there, either.
You are correct, I did not give σ a value, I merely used generic control charts to illustrate my point; if you only have three coin tosses, you can't claim a biased coin if you get three heads.
(Oddly enough, an American one cent coin is biased, it is slightly more likely to give you tails! The distribution of metal on a struck coin very slightly dishes the whole coin to the deeper portrait side. Who knew?)

Ya THINK?!?!???
Not if you take out all the uhs and ums...
The Obama's are reportedly worth some $11Million and climbing.
