Shortly after Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney enjoyed cookies and soft drinks with the Rev. Billy Graham and his son Franklin Graham on Thursday at the elder Graham's mountaintop retreat, a reference to Mormonism as a cult was scrubbed from the website of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
In a section of the website called Billy Graham's My Answer there had been the question "What is a cult?"
Answer: "A cult is any group which teaches doctrines or beliefs that deviate from the biblical message of the Christian faith."
"Some of these groups are Jehovah's Witnesess, Mormons, the Unification Church, Unitarians, Spritualists, Scientologists, and others," the site continued.
No longer. On Tuesday, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association confirmed that page has recently been removed from the site.
Our primary focus at the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association has always been promoting the Gospel of Jesus Christ," Ken Barun, chief of staff for the association, told CNN in a statement. "We removed the information from the website because we do not wish to participate in a theological debate about something that has become politicized during this campaign."

Has Rev. Billy Grahamn just effectively ended his “spiritual career” in the same SHAMEFUL manner as Penn State football coach Joe Paterno ?I say “yes” ...
Well I say “no” ... Obama is the biggest threat to the Constitution, this country, to our children's’ future, to unborn, and to our freedom to worship in the way that we please. If reelected Obama will most likely nominate at least two more radical justices to the Supreme Court which will alter our country forever. Billy Graham is a very wise old man. I trust his judgment far more than a crackpot pretending to be a conservative.

communism is a temporal threat.
mormonism (cults) is/are an eternal threat.
It is up to you to decide which is greater.

Communism bans churches and the practice of any ‘unapproved’ religion which makes it an eternal threat as well as a temporal threat.
We know you’d prefer Obama.

Well said but I’d add that I’d trust Billy Grahams advice on theological discussions far more as well.

-truth is not hate-
I was just wondering then what do you think of Paul, who when he preached people rioted.
Everywhere he went there were riots, many times he had to flee in the night so he wouldn’t be murdered.
Would you say to him, stop the hate, stop the divisiveness.
I will say it again, truth is not hate.
People think Jesus preached hate and divisiveness.
Would you tell Him to tone it down?
Take John the Baptist, who stood at the castle gates and called Herod’s wife a whore and him a murder and adulterer.
Would you say, hey John to much back off?
Truth is not hate, it can be offense to some but it is not hate.

John is speaking obviously of spiritual collaboration, not upon cooperation in earthly endeavors.

But neither can we avoid the Apostolic warning against giving even a greeting to one who brings a false Gospel. See 1 John 1:10-11. Surely John also wanted his readers to understand his context. This is no mere social hello. This is a churchly greeting.

Ahem, they did not “remove Mormonism from their cult list.” They quit talking about cult lists altogether.

You and “we” know no such thing.
It is your projection onto me, something that is not in evidence.
Because I oppose mormonism does not in any reality translate to the approval of obama.
Your replies started after my original reply which simply said - sad.
It appears you want to turn this into being I support obama, hate and communism.
Let me repeat what I first said - sad.
I stand by my original statement and will expand it for you: “it is sad that Mr. Graham removed mormonism from the reference to it being a cult.”

I suppose your "crackpot pretending to be conservative" remark ...
refers to the fact that I REFUSE to drink the kool-aide offered by by Karl Rove, et al ...
Did you see the movie "2016" ?
It's pretty damn frightening ... and what they left-out about the "Kenyan Socialist" is even worse ...
But ... as an Evangelical Christian Tea Party Patriot ... who volunteered to go to Iraq ...
I KNOW that any Christian who votes for ANY Godless man (such as Obama or Myth Romney) ...
risks the sin of spiritual blasphemy.
For what it's worth ... my "gods" are NOT Karl Rove, lower taxes, lower unemployment ... things that Myth Romney might actually be able to accomplish ...
are those "good" things ?
absolutely.
But as Christ said, what good does it do for a Believer to trade his soul in reurn for the riches of this world ?
Myth Romney secretly hates and despises Jesus Christ, the Great I AM ...
and that's enough reason for me to NOT VOTE for either Myth or the Muslim from Kenya ...
So-called "Christians" wishing and hoping that a stealth "Christ Hater" like Myth Romney ...
will bring God's grace and mercy and healing back to America ...
are SADLY mistaken.

You’re standing by a statement that misrepresents what BGEA really did? I expected better from you. BGEA pitched their talk about cults. They didn’t keep it up but delete the LDS out of it.
