Knowing What You Know Now, Would You Have Backed Romney From The Primary?

Posted on 10/16/2012 10:52:22 AM PDT by SarahPalin2012

Or would you have still backed Cain/Gingrich/Santorum/Christie/Palin (whoever your choice was from before or during the primary). I think it's an interesting question. Mitt wasn't my first choice, but am glad that he is doing so well. Would you now prefer Mitt over another who may or may not have done as well? Of course, I myself am a completely committed supporter of Mitt Romney since the primary was decided.

"No. I try not to sell out my principles."

In your honor, I switched-in an appropriate tagline...

(by tnlibertarian)I've decided these 'Romney is Obama-lite, so I'm staying home' voters are like liberals in a lot of ways. By 'liberals,' I mean your typical, mainly non-politician, feel-good liberals. Not the Marxists in the White House and most of the Democrats in congress and the Senate. Most liberals, I believe, have good intentions. Heal the sick, feed the hungry, save the Earth, etc. But, their policies and plans tend to have the exact opposite effect than what they want. Welfare promotes dependency, equality of outcome policies lower the average, socialism results in wide-spread poverty. But, that doesn't matter, their intentions are what counts. This is like the ABR voters. The results of their actions don't matter to them. They can't look past their self-piety to see the harm their actions, if followed by enough, would cause. Is Romney perfect? No. Is Newt? Is Palin? Was Reagan? No, not one of them. However, Obama is the scourge inflicted on this country. And Romney is the only cure. If by your actions, or inaction, you allow an evil to occur, how can you say those actions are principled? You are intentionally myopic.

This is very good analysis #1, and #2 well-written and explained. Thank you for taking the time to respond.

No one is staying home - so your Romney talking point garbage is just that - garbage.

The RESULTS of our actions are obedience to God first and foremost and secondly to the principles that define our worldview. That so many see Romney as “The only cure” makes my point and contention that many such people are committing idolatry - and by default, lofting Romney to messianic and savior status. I want nothing to do with being part of such a zeitgeist, because to me - declaring a liberal politician (or any politician for that matter) as some kind of savior, is blasphemy.

I want NOTHING to do with such people or their lofted political messiah. It’s why I loathed Ron Paul’s mob zombies - and why I hold Romney’s hordes in the same contempt.

The MUST VOTE ROMNEY brigades have essentially declared that Christians and God-fearing principled people who refuse to vote for Romney are harmful and dangerous to the state. So what is the difference between them and the Obama-drones worshipping their messiah again? Nothing. Both camps are engaged in idolatry and blasphemy.

I want NOTHING to do with such a meme and movement and refuse to surrender my Christian and Conservative principles by voting FOR Romney.

The castigation, ridicule, demeaning and otherwise insulting of Christian Conservatives for their allegiance to what is vastly more important to us than anything else in this world - simply solidifies our resolve that we are acting correctly. So go ahead and slam our ‘piety’ - you are simply strengthening our resolve and moving us from individual resolve to activism.

Righteousness is hated, scorned and belittled in the midst of a perverse and wicked generation. That it is illustrated on a forum dedicated to Conservative Christian principles is indeed evidence of how far we’ve fallen as a nation and people.

Seek first the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness, THEN, all these things will be added to you. If you people see Romney as the ONLY cure - then I contend you have abandoned God for an idol. And if that statement pisses you off - then good - it means the Spirit is pricking your conscience and there is truth in that statement.

Vote for whomever you want - but apparently that liberty does not extend to the rest of us who are voting for a staunch Conservative for the presidency this year. Elections have consequences it is said. So does putting other things ahead of and before God as a people.

That’s why we have Obama as the president in the first place.

He is a reflection of this people.

It appears you are the only one pissed off. Project much?

I never said you can't vote for whomever you want. Feel free. You can't, however, free yourself from the fact that actions have consequences. And those predictable consequences go far in determining the merit of your action. Since that action, repeated by enough voters in a close election such as this, aids in re-electing Obama, what does that say about the merit of it?

“The only cure” makes my point and contention that many such people are committing idolatry - and by default, lofting Romney to messianic and savior status.

Nice straw man, which you then rant about for half your post. Quite obviously, the next president will be either Romney or Obama. Arguments otherwise are pointless. So, yes, if you want Obama gone, and consider him a disease, then Romney is the 'cure', to complete the analogy.

So, vote for Virgie, vote for Tom Huff and Puff, shoot, vote for Billy Graham if you're looking for a just and right candidate. The rest of us will actually do something that will defeat the enemy that is Obama.

You can't, however, free yourself from the fact that actions have consequences.

Yes. Like putting politics before God while surrendering principles resulting in election after election where the only choice handed to us is to vote for the lesser of two evils. We've devolved to the point we are left with a choice between a Democrat Socialist or a Marxist, whose records are antithetical to biblical faith and the Conservative ideology. The nation slides inexorably LEFT and as a consequence; is become hostile to God and biblical principles when they see them displayed.

And those predictable consequences go far in determining the merit of your action. Since that action, repeated by enough voters in a close election such as this, aids in re-electing Obama, what does that say about the merit of it?

You're stuck on looking only at a political savior - instead of the root cause that got us here to begin with. The consequences of which in themselves spell doom for both the Republic, and potentially, lots of souls. The bible is replete with examples of peoples and nations who thought they could choose expedience over righteousness. Choosing what they wanted in terms of what they saw as 'good'. In every case, they ended up destroying themselves by their insistence and rose up against God's servants who were sent to warn them of the consequences they were sowing for themselves.

If voting for a Democrat Socialist over an overt Marxist somehow spells salvation in your book - have at. Where you people cross the line is when you castigate those of us who stand on principles and faith and declare that the consequences of OUR actions somehow lead to your harm. If that be the case - then liberty is already extinct in this country and it doesn't matter if we vote at all anyway.

Quite obviously, the next president will be either Romney or Obama.

Then quit bitching at those of us voting our principles then. You don't need our help to elect your political savior - and Romney made it clear as a bell he doesn't want Conservatives beyond our votes anyway. So pound sand pal.

if you want Obama gone, and consider him a disease, then Romney is the 'cure', to complete the analogy.

Romney is NO 'cure' of anything. He's a symptom of a deathbed society that champions government over God. According to people like you - voting for a Democrat Socialist who eschews Conservatives is somehow a 'cure' to a Marxist. You cannot get much more pathetic than that. Romney is the sum of half a population of lukewarm and wayward people that can no longer discern good from evil.

The rest of us will actually do something that will defeat the enemy that is Obama.

You go ahead and think that. I'm thinking past November.
