As I said, I got lucky, but I was still outraged by having to collect all those documents to prove I was a resident when an illegal who goes to high school for 3 years gets automatic in state tuition.
The governor under Beth Purdue did not assist more than to querry the school itself and accept “their” definitation of in-state and out-of-state tuition; this while my other son attends East Carolina University under in-state tuition - the governor’s office told me it was up to each school to decide residency.... Go figure.
Newsflash: if they were going to high school for three years they were a resident for three years. You admit you barely made the cut of "one year." Suck it up.
You've got two choices: federal incurious into this clear area of state sovereignty over who and what is a resident of itself or get it changed in your state.
The feds are not going to make illegals who've squatted here "no residents" as an outgrowth of immigration policy. There's no political will for that, there's no widespread support for it in the country and it would be demographic suicide to even try.
When you make everything about race illegals you sound as idiotic as the leftist race baiters.
Look, I agree with you, but that post in number 7 above was not your best. Those folks were tapping a real issue that needs to be addressed. If your admonishment were taken serious, nobody would ever be able to address issues of racial inequity that are used by the Left to game the system.
