just sent out this statement with Senator Kelly Ayotte and John McCain about the attack on our Consulate in Benghazi.
"We have just learned that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has claimed full responsibility for any failure to secure our people and our Consulate in Benghazi prior to the attack of September 11, 2012. This is a laudable gesture, especially when the White House is trying to avoid any responsibility whatsoever.
"However, we must remember that the events of September 11 were preceded by an escalating pattern of attacks this year in Benghazi, including a bomb that was thrown into our Consulate in April, another explosive device that was detonated outside of our Consulate in June, and an assassination attempt on the British Ambassador. If the President was truly not aware of this rising threat level in Benghazi, then we have lost confidence in his national security team, whose responsibility it is to keep the President informed. But if the President was aware of these earlier attacks in Benghazi prior to the events of September 11, 2012, then he bears full responsibility for any security failures that occurred. The security of Americans serving our nation everywhere in the world is ultimately the job of the Commander-in-Chief. The buck stops there.
"Furthermore, there is the separate issue of the insistence by members of the Administration, including the President himself, that the attack in Benghazi was the result of a spontaneous demonstration triggered by a hateful video, long after it had become clear that the real cause was a terrorist attack. The President also bears responsibility for this portrayal of the attack, and we continue to believe that the American people deserve to know why the Administration acted as it did."
Meanwhile, McCain continues to reach across the aisle to his friends the terrorists in hopes of getting a compromise that will sound nice until the terrorists break it again. Isn’t that the way he always negotiated with Democrats?
You make a good point that it keeps the issue going but I still think the statement is weak
Does Hillary also take responsibility for 0bama and Susan Rice saying that it was a protest over an anti-Islam movie?
Hillary knew her bipartisan Republican pals in the Senate would have her back. Generally speaking, Senators don’t allow former Senators to be thrown under the bus.
If I were Obama, I’d be feeling a little paranoid.
Hillary’s statement was intended to give Obama cover through the debate tomorrow. That’s all. She has no intention of taking the fall for this, and will make that clear after the debate.
Obama wants Libya off the table. I hope Mitt finds a way to staple him to the wall with it.
No mystery as to why. He wanted to avoid being made to look the fool, and also assault the First Amendment. He failed at the former, but succeeded at the latter.
"This is a laudable gesture, especially when the White House is trying to avoid any responsibility whatsoever. However, we must remember that the events of September 11 were preceded by an escalating pattern of attacks this year in Benghazi, including a bomb that was thrown into our Consulate in April, another explosive device that was detonated outside of our Consulate in June, and an assassination attempt on the British Ambassador. And no one, no one...answered the phone.
As my tagline states for over a month...
or this assassination was sanctioned by the 0bama administration for some reason. None of their actions make any sense whatsoever.
Everyday we hear government officials and law enforcement say a violent act is under investigation and they don't want any speculation ...and yet this Administration came out with this video excuse for nearly a week. That excuse sparked outrage all through the middle east, apologies were recorded and broadcast in Pakistan and stated at the United Nations...
It will be interesting to see if Ayotte continues to ‘tag team’ with McCain and Graham. It will also be interesting to see if Red Hampshire winds up with an ‘all-female’ Congessional delegation in three short weeks...
What is LAUDABLE by admitting you have BLOOD on your hands, but you still KEEP your JOB????
Didn’t Hillary CACKLE and say “We came, we saw, he died?”
It’s a little early to tell, but the Billarybeast may have just executed the very difficult reverse-underbus maneuver. Obie is getting rolled by his own bus. A lot depends on whether the GOP will keep hammering obie for answers on what he knew and when. There are defections in the media, too.
Are Hill/Billy setting bo up with the help of the R?
With all that said, Snooki moved out of the house this week. Hmm...might be a rerun.
The President doesn’t understand responsibility as he has never had it prior to winning the presidency. He is still trying to understand it that managing the U.S. is a little different than organizing and carpooling little old ladies to go vote in Chicago.
How about the $70,000 wasted to make that apology video to the Islamic world? Shouldn’t that be refunded to the American people?
“Balls in your court, Obama.”
he has none.
blessings, bobo
Flimsey Tinkerbelle & Maverisk McCain have apparently suffered another attack of Sudden Conservative Syndrome.
Meanwhile, Cankles & Bubba are the smartest snakes in D.C. She will pay no price whatsoever.
At least I get to say to a Hillary supporter I know “ See how they are treating Hillary ? and she takes the fall for Bambi “ it’s a crying shame how they are treating Hillary that way... hint hint, wink wink.... rub it in...
