Gas prices have more than doubled since Barack Obama took over the White House.
But that didn’t stop him from cutting off drilling in August in half of Alaska’s National Petroleum Reserve.
The Obama Administration planned for higher gas prices and fewer jobs through their many job-killing decisions.
The Wall Street Journal reported, via FOX Nation:
President Obama is campaigning as a champion of the oil and gas boom he’s had nothing to do with, and even as his regulators try to stifle it. The latest example is the Interior Department’s little-noticed August decision to close off from drilling nearly half of the 23.5 million acre National Petroleum Reserve in Alaska.
The area is called the National Petroleum Reserve because in 1976 Congress designated it as a strategic oil and natural gas stockpile to meet the “energy needs of the nation.” Alaska favors exploration in nearly the entire reserve. The feds had been reviewing four potential development plans, and the state of Alaska had strongly objected to the most restrictive of the four. Sure enough, that was the plan Interior chose.
Interior Secretary Ken Salazar says his plan “will help the industry bring energy safely to market from this remote location, while also protecting wildlife and subsistence rights of Alaska Natives.” He added that the proposal will expand “safe and responsible oil and gas development, and builds on our efforts to help companies develop the infrastructure that’s needed to bring supplies online.”
The problem is almost no one in the energy industry and few in Alaska agree with him. In an August 22 letter to Mr. Salazar, the entire Alaska delegation in CongressSenators Mark Begich and Lisa Murkowski and Representative Don Youngcall it “the largest wholesale land withdrawal and blocking of access to an energy resource by the federal government in decades.” This decision, they add, “will cause serious harm to the economy and energy security of the United States, as well as to the state of Alaska.” Mr. Begich is a Democrat.
The letter also says the ruling “will significantly limit options for a pipeline” through the reserve.
Full title was too long.
Awwww who needs gasoline anyways
get a bicycle. yeah that’s the ticket /s
It’s now or never. Vote the idiot OUT!!
If that also means cutting off half of production - he probably has effectively cut off all production. IIRC they were already having problems with not enough oil in the pipeline to keep it warm enough and flowing.
The talk radio station I listen to here in Arizona has a local yokel Arizona “news” report following the FOX radio news report. Right now, they are reporting that, although gas prices have risen two to three cents overnight, they are “expected to drop before the elections.” LOL! Commie libs! Ya gotta love ‘em. They’d say anything for their “messiah”. What the hell do the elections have to do with gas prices?
What a Pres__ent he is!
Acting on behalf of all of us to squander resources that could easily be tapped.
“Candy” of CNN won’t let any questions on the price of gasoline get through. Candy wants to scare people about Social Security - and scare dem women about abortion. So if 90% of the participants submit questions on gas prices, she’ll ignore those questions. Gotta love CNN - and the commission that chose all liberal moderators.
Obama is just driving up prices for his oil company friends.
He only cut off access to half....the half that actually has any oil on it.
Bump
This must mean the Saudis own the field. The “one” really wants to get us off of foreign oil.
FYI and / or comments.........
The NPRA does not have any producing wells in it today.
There is a little bit produced by reaching under the eastern border from satellite drillsites that feed ConocoPhillips' Alpine production center. Those will not be affected.
Just as enlarging ANWR in exchange for setting aside the empty coastal plane for oil/gas development turned out to be a scam by the Feds, the NPRA, set aside specifically for oil/gas development is proving difficult to actually get permission for producing wells.
They have leased a lot of acres years ago in NPRA. The permits have taken many court battles over many years to get permission to produce from where the feds already collected the dollars to lease.
plane = plain
“They have leased a lot of acres years ago in NPRA. The permits have taken many court battles over many years to get permission to produce from where the feds already collected the dollars to lease.”
Nice work if you can get it. There is some quote that likens the gov’t to the mob. And stuff like this lines right up with it.
He is not an idiot. He knows exactly what he’s doing and why he’s doing it.
