Comedian Tim Allen has an idea for a home improvement at the White House: Get a new tenant!

A rare Republican in Democrat-loving Hollywood — let alone in prime time — Allen delivers a comic smackdown in the season premiere of his ABC sitcom, “Last Man Standing.”

It’s the first sign the GOP may be making inroads in what has been nearly solid support for the president on the left coast.

In the episode, airing four days before the election, Allen’s uber-conservative character, Mike Baxter, tries to persuade his impressionable 18-year-old daughter to vote for Mitt Romney.

Yes, you are right about Steptoe and Son. I can't remember the son, but I did see the scrawny, whining, snuffling Steptoe.

I don't think Steptoe and AITF were the only ones he brought over, but I can't recall the others.

I DVRed the show. What a disappointment! Sure, Tim Allen got in some good Obama zingers, but his character had no real responses to his snarky daughter’s pro-Obama/anti-Romney comments. He came off as the stereotypical “stupid white dad,” and in the end he supported his middle daughter’s decision to vote for Zero...even drove her to the polls.

I won’t waste my time watching that program again.

I watched and agree 100% with your assessment. His zingers weren't any good really and you are correct, the daughter walked all over him. Stereotypical stupid male that shows up in all the so called comedy shows now-a-days. Females gang up on males to show how superior they are. Being female myself, I find that offensive.

Totally disappointed in the show --- what could have been good wasn't. Nothing really about the destruction that zero has brought to this country and of course there were plenty of "obama type" lines by the lib daughter --- rich Romney, etc.

What a waste of time watching the show ---- I watched it when it first came on, but then stopped --- I remember why now.
