A North Carolina universitys student government has voted to ban a Chick-fil-a restaurant on campus because the fast-food chains president is against gay marriage.
Elon Universitys Student Government Association voted 35-11 to ask its food vendor to find another restaurant to take its place, the Daily Advance reports.

I don't think these idiots understand how this all works...
How Marxist of them, these little skulls full of mush.
Stupid sheep, our young people with skulls full of mush.
I hope you’ll ask Elon grads who make it to interview what their opinion of the boycott is. They aren’t all mentally retarded.
The intolerance and hypocrisy is just amazing isn’t it?
Write down the names of the students and then follow their careers. This can be used against them and anyone who hires them, if they don’t fire them upon learning about this history.
It would be interesting to see where in the workforce garbage like these students end up.
God created them Adam and Eve; not Adam and Steve.
Eve & Adam; not Eve & Sandra Fluck. - I also believe God ordained marriage; up until now, that was my right.
Now, it appears, no one has any rights at all excepting these communist yahoos.
My son is a 1996 graduate of Elon. Next weekend is homecoming/reunion and will be attending. Incidentally, he is a conservative.
Hey everyone, I’m a conservative senior economics major at Elon University and wanted to let you all know what really happened.
The student government (SGA) decided to hold an open forum on the supposed issue of Chickfila on campus because SPECTRUM (an LGBTQ organization) has the opinion that Chickfila should be banned from campus because of Chickfila donating to supposed ‘anti-gay’ organizations.
This open forum was held the day before fall break started during midterms week and on the same night as the VP debate, thus eliminating the possibilities of most business school students or many other students who are conservative to attend due to our midterms or our wanting to watch the VP debate. The open forum wasn’t advertised that much and mostly all of SPECTRUM showed up to the open forum. For three straight hours many of their members gave emotional stories to support their opinion, which is ridiculous. There were some people there trying to show the common sense to everyone else there that Chickfila and Dan Cathy specifically is entitled to its own rights. Seeing all the SPECTRUM people there, most of the senators probably felt like they had no other choice but to vote for it.
For the first time I am ashamed of my university because of this decision. I don’t understand how the people who want everyone else to be tolerant of their sexual orientation can’t be tolerant of other people’s religious beliefs. Most of the campus has the same view I do, in the fact that Chickfila should stay and that this decision basically throws the first amendment out the window. The next step is in the president of SGA’s hands, who I personally know. He is a big conservative and has the power of vetoing the motion to suggest to the administration to ban Chickfila. If he doesn’t veto, the administration will debate over the issue and come to a final decision.
Any and all advice is welcome because I don’t want my university to be in the spotlight for this and I don’t want to be graduating from a university who supports this kind of ludicrous liberal movement.
I’m a conservative senior Economics major at Elon and I would like to say that we are a relatively conservative school. The forum though was unfair to most of the people on campus because it was on the same night as the VP debate, it was midterms week, and it was the night before fall break. Mostly all SPECTRUM members (LGBTQ org. on campus) showed up and there were only a few conservative minds.
I find it ridiculous that the decision was made and hopefully the SGA president decides to veto it. I just can’t understand how the people who ask for the most tolerance can’t be tolerant of other people’s religious beliefs.
Great editorial. Thanks for providing the link. Can’t believe the negative CFA comments by some of the students and the professor. Just a reminder about how far down the slope we really have gone.
I am just floored. I mean, I know they are stupid punks whose mommies and daddies paid their way- Elon is a PRIVATE school - approx $30,000 in tuition per yr- but still. No one is allowed to have an opinion?
May they live in interesting times. And reap what they sow.
Congratulations, have fun and eat at Chik-fil-A!
there are LOTS of questions I'd like to ask people when I interview them... but alas, HR and the lawyers would have me for lunch
Good work, man.
Glad to see you at FR!
What they did is straight out of the little red commie handbook. Pick a meeting time that is inconvenient to all but the dedicated cadre of true believers. Dominate the discussion until people get fed up and leave. Hold a vote when only your supporters are left. Textbook.
SPHINCTER would be a much more appropriate name for this group IMO.
You think these “senators” were intimitaed into voting that way? Post their names because we have got to make sure those cowards never end up in government-government.
Thank you very much for the info.
If you differ from them, it's not diversity, it's hate.
Here is the homepage of SGA where you can find all of the “senators,” which make up all the councils you can see on the left hand column of the page. http://www.elon.edu/e-web/students/sga/default.xhtml
