Washington (CNN) After near-universal bad reviews of his first presidential debate with Mitt Romney, President Barack Obama will bring more energy and passion to his second showdown with the GOP nominee, advisers to the president said Sunday.
Yet the come-out-swinging attitude many Democrats crave could be hindered by the debate's town hall format, which requires a likability factor not completely compatible with aggressive attacks.

Great! The “angry black man” routine. I was afraid of that. I think I’ll work late.
The Ambassador is dead and Al Queda is alive.
And Baraq was watching, at least until bedtime.
This should be a slam dunk, but of course it will be 2 on 1.
Just what America needs, Obama playing a demented Joe.
People, you had better wake up, this regime is stuck on power and they could care less about us.
.
Where is Michelle hiding??
I think the right needs to brace itself. The Mass Media is going to pull out all the stops to sell Obama as “the come back kid” the next two weeks.
Yes, that minor point could be a problem....
Also that Biden's performance reminded most divorced women of their ex-husbands, and most employed men of their obnoxious ex-boss.
It may play to Obama's core, but I hope that the Obamaphone lady, and women who need $3000 worth of condoms each year haven't yet become the majority.
Romney caught them be surprise the first time. This time, look for obama to be a Biden on steroids, lying and shouting. Romene just needs to stick to his game plan and have his facts to refute obama’s lies. Like Biden, obama will be playing to his base. Not Americans.
Didn’t help Biden though.
Mitt: “We must not let the future belong to those who blame others for their failures.”
You should read the comments following. The libs are so delusional. They think Odumbo is armed with the truth. What truth? The man is as dishonest as they come.
The truth is all around us. Crippling debt, high gas and energy bills, a failed foreign policy resulting in the death of seals and an ambassador, record joblessness etc.....and the some.
Theres your truth Obamabots.
If it's too little, B. Hussein will crawl into a corner, shaking and sweating, crying for mama.
No Romney needs to play to more than his base.
Romney needs two things. At seeming conflict with each other.
First off, he needs conservatives.
Second off, he needs the middle.
I’ll not suggest the best way to do that. But he needs both.
I think Obama will become less likeable during this debate. The amount of pressure on O is hair curling and I don’t think that he is going to react to it well.
There goes his mythical “likeability” factor.
What a golden opportunity for Romney.
Obama already has a prickly personality, and cannot deal with anyone talking back to him. So if Romney manages to push just the right button, Obama could “blow himself out of the water.”
While his more radical followers are maybe screaming at their teevees for Obama to “go over there and punch that white guy out”, if he goes even just a hair too far, he will lose the vast majority of everybody in America.
Truthfully, it would not surprise me if his handlers are so convinced that Obama is a loose cannon, that they encouraged him to get tranquilized before the first debate. But after his dismal performance, that argument won’t work any more.
