A great speech in Lebanon yesterday, as Ohio polls continue to narrow
"About a week ago, I had a debate. ...and I did enjoy myself."
With that opening line, Mitt Romney had a massive crowd of 11,000 people eating out of his hand. The huge attendance caused the audience to spill over its initial boundaries and through the streets surrounding the stage. It was the latest event for Romney, who's now put in a staggering 34 Ohio appearances in his bid to win the must-have state.
The speech, which focuses on the greatness of our nation, is a breath of fresh air for political wonks who've endured the last three years of morose, overly apologetic, presidential navel-gazing.
According to the numbers, the positivity is working. After last week's debate, most respected Buckeye polls show the two candidates in a statistical dead heat, with the Real Clear Politics Average showing Obama up by only 1.3 percent. Before the first debate, Obama was leading by a little over 8 points.
Perhaps more importantly, as the polls tighten, the size of Romneys crowds is surging dramatically. People are finally excited about his candidacy. Obviously the momentum is in Romney's favor so, if he performs well in his second debate Tuesday night, it's likely that he'll pull ahead.
Here's the video of his Saturday speech, which is well worth watching.
I have noticed a lot of concerned trolls doesn’t seem to be showing up like they use to.
Good report.
Thanks.
I LOVE Lebanon!!! Is that Golden Lamb still there??? I know the Maisonette people owned it and they are pretty much gone.
Do you have another picture becuase that sure isn’t 11,000 people. More 4+- thousand.
Come on Ohio.... The country is in desperate need of change. Do not let US down!
What is the purpose of presidential debates? From a candidate’s standpoint it’s to energize potential voters to support him so strongly they’ll come out to listen to his speeches, cheer him on, and go to the polls for him on Election Day.
By that criteria, both Romney and Ryan won, and Obama and Biden lost. Where are the excited liberal masses flooding into the streets to hear Joe Biden speak and laugh and carry on like a lunatic as he did Thursday night? — Joe Biden, who, according to the media, so fired up the liberal base that he saved the Democrats? Nowhere to be seen.
More Democrats congregated in the streets of our cities during the Occupy Wallstreet protests than are making their way now to Obama and Biden events.
And where are the millions of small donors who contributed $181,000 million to the Obama campaign in September alone? If they’re too lazy and out-of-touch to attend Obama’s speeches and cheer him on, they’re even less likely to turn up at boring voting places to cast their votes for him.
Does anybody remember if McCain drew crowds like this?
Mc who?
The Debate Tuesday, are the questions from the Audience? If so look for Obama to have plants all over the audience... IMHO
“Does anybody remember if McCain drew crowds like this?”
The only times McCain drew crowds this size and larger were the times Sarah was with him.
Excellent pics.. The 2nd one is great because it shows how many people are behind the large TV screen about half way back.
very encouraging.
The only way zero gets this many people are when he gives away free food and a concert at a large university....and professors cancel class..
Obama's bad debate showing lifted the mask off the manufactured Obama lie and those who helped him get there.
Not only is Obama being exposed for the fraud that he is the main stream media is also being exposed for the fraud they are."
Your words are right on the mark 100%! Especially the last two statements.
[ Does anybody remember if McCain drew crowds like this? ]
No, but Governor Sarah Palin did.
Palin sure did.
[ The Debate Tuesday, are the questions from the Audience? If so look for Obama to have plants all over the audience... IMHO ]
Exactly what I am expecting.
WOW! Great pics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
With a crowd of 11K, Romney's already kept good on his promise to boost the economy...
So all 11,000 have to show in a single photo? Uh, no. The headline is a crowd estimate from those in position to estimate, it's not a claim that posted photos show the entire crowd in a single shot.
BTW, good feeling to wake up from a nap and find THIS! Thanks for putting it together.
This says he mentioned last week’s debate in his speech, the first words out of his mouth, and the crowd loved it.
That tells me he’s building them up to the next debate and shows confidence in expectation of it.
Pray he’s right. A lot of pundits on both sides aren’t expecting quite so much from him and are expecting a lot more from Obama...
He knows that. But still chose to build it up...
OPSEC is obviously in.
