Well said and it falls to the larger “Tea Party” to weed out these drifty, un-committed, go-along-to-get-along, friend-of-everyman, money sucking, weasel blowhards before they can actually get elected. My sharpest memory of the turkey is him limp wristing his way thru the Waco hearings. BOY, do we have a lot of work to do.!

I don't know what to say, as much as she sparred with him, I think Laura Ingraham forgave him, which is the ultimate Christian thing to do.
It would be curious to see who goes to his funeral and if Obama lets him Lie in State, as opposed to no such honor for Neil Armstrong ( caveat, Neil may not have wanted it ).
If he allowed the In State honor, tangent to this is how many will show up. From what I hear no one showed up for Ted Kennedy's funeral in DC.
Compare that to Reagan and what is the mark of a man's life, via how many showed up to say good-bye to Ronaldus Maxsimus.
Condolences to Specter's his Family...

A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.

I'm not a fan of Specter's liberal politics. I never considered voting for him in the 1996 presidential primary or supporting him in any race, because of our religion. But I will accord him with the respect, charity, and justice he deserves in death.

“You were a RINO, but at least you helped usher in Clarence Thomas to the Supreme Court. So thanks for that.”
I’m with you. That’s an awesome legacy, even if he later disowned it. Thomas simply would not be on the Court except for him.
Otherwise, yes, he was a jerk.

All true, and he is rightly derided for all that. But I also remember his fierce support of Clarence Thomas during his confirmation hearings, and his unswavering efforts to demostrate just what a liar and stooge Anita Hill was. In that event, at least, Arlen was a stand up guy.

That's what lawyers do, though.
They act in the interests of clients who often enough are guilty.
I suppose Specter could have refused to take the case, but the decision to set bail was the judge's.

By all accounts, including from people I know who knew him, he was a nasty man.
