(Reuters) - Joe Biden's spirited performance in the vice presidential debate had Republicans criticizing him for snide grins and a comment on Libya, but it set the stage for President Barack Obama to try to regain his footing during a rematch with challenger Mitt Romney next Tuesday.
Greg Valliere, who analyzes politics for investors at Potomac Research Group, said he thought Ryan "won on points," but that Biden energized the Democrats and stopped the slide.
"This entertaining debate was all about Biden, who easily cleared a low bar," Valliere said in a note to clients on Friday.

I can see why they think that Biden energized their base.
The majority of “their base” think that yelling the F word and mooning you is “winning a debate”.

No matter how well you play chess,
the pigeon just knocks over the pieces,
craps on the board,
utters unintelligible vaguely obscene sounds,
and struts around like he won something.
All the debate did was energize the other rude and nasty dems that support bambi, Biden played to the dem base. He did not gain any votes at all for the ticket, and probably lost a few more. But I don’t doubt that the corrupt polls will show a bounce for bambi in the next few days.

Yes, Ryan actually said that. It was ignored then, and I’ve seen not a single mention of it, post-debate. I’ve heard plenty of complaints that he should have, at some point, said something like that to Biden, when in fact, he did.
