We watched C-span, only a split-screen of Ryan and Biden. Biden just looked as though he thought it was okay to smile, laugh and roll his eyes no matter what was being said. The moderator asked some good questions and some inane ones; mostly she was interrupting Ryan’s answers.

He does that (craps the bed) every time he’s turned loose without a ‘minder’. Still, those six power sessions he did with the douchebag Axelrod seemed to make him a little less gaffe-prone tonight, but he’ll always be an asshole. That will never change...

He was overplaying it to make up for Obama.

When only a Presidential "Face Palm" will suffice.

Spokeshave and family will sleep well tonight.

Greta Van Sustern claimed that there was an NBC (!) poll that Ryan won 56% to Biden’s 36%. Anyone find that one?

And Ryan had to debate two people at once. Both Biden, and the moderator. Ryan was being team tagged.

I thought Raddatz was absolutely awful tonight. Even fellow liberal Gwen Ifill did a better job four years ago with Sarah and Biden.

I'm stunned some members of Frank Luntz' focus group thought Martha Raddatz did "an excellent job". Not the brightest focus group I've seen from Luntz...

This poll was of a group of viewers CNN picked themselves. I noticed they quit mentioning it pretty quickly.

overplayed, obnoxious, clown. Rude, crass, arrogant, condescending w/o basis

Biden was just how I expected he'd be.

I dozed off listening to his "charm" but I had to get up early. He tried to dominate the younger Ryan. I thought Biden did pretty well considering. Ryan seemed to stay on message though and at least made some effort to engage the moderator's questions. Biden seemed to spend his time trying to talk over Ryan and using his time not to talk Obama policy but to whine and attack Romney.

I think Ryan was smart to remind people Obama had a unified government his first two years and get everything he wanted. The Iran discussion was ridiculous. Biden attacked Ryan for pushing the tough sanctions on Iran while saying the sanctions are working.

I think Biden's mention of Sara Palin and his demeanor tells us the campaign is not going well for Obama internally.

What did you think about Biden?

I came late to the debate at about half way through it.

Not having seen the first half and not having been prompted by anything I'd heard anyplace, my first thought was about hearing Paul Ryan speak. I'd come into a segment on economics and Ryan was being continually interrupted by the moderator and by Biden. She wouldn't let him speak an entire sentence or an entire thought.

The next question was for Biden and the thought came to me: "This man is angry." He sounded angry; he looked angry; and Ryan was acting like a guy in a bar with an acquaintance who'd tied on an angry drunk.

Then Biden was interrupting again, a lots of times with a dismissive laugh or noise.

When Ryan was able to speak in entire sentences, he made perfect sense. I was pleased at his composure. I kept wondering when he bust out on Biden's derision, but he held it together. The Gingrich ability to nail someone mid-debate for inappropriateness is rare, and I'm glad Ryan didn't try to go there.

I was almost thinking Biden was TRYING to get an angry response from Ryan. I don't think it was the derisive interruptions that was the point.

I think they might have been pushing to get Ryan to lash out. Then he would have been too young, unable to control temper, not presidential caliber, etc., etc. as the morning headline.

“The next question was for Biden and the thought came to me: “This man is angry.” He sounded angry; he looked angry; and Ryan was acting like a guy in a bar with an acquaintance who'd tied on an angry drunk.”

That's a brilliant synopsis. Maybe the RNC should run and add with Ryan as the sober designated driver for the disinhibited tipsy Biden. “When your colleague's judgment is impaired, someone has to be the responsible one and take the keys away.”

...fully agreed! Ryan came off as likeable and Biden was the crazy bully. America will take likeable any day.

Yes it will set in because everyone has worked for or has known someone with his smirky attitude
and inflammatory condescension to prop themselves up.

People who think they know-Joe either fear him or want something from him because this
guy is not the kind of person you just sit down with and have a beer, without a fist fight.

Biden on the Weighty Issues

Our Ambassador to Libya and three other U. S. nationals were slaughtered.  Obama and the State Department refused to give them adequate security staffing.

The U. S. is seen in the region as a slipping super-power...  This is resulting in destabalization, threats to allies, and a leadership vacuum that will lead to threats to peace elsewhere.

Russia and China are vetoing our attempts to get Iran in line.  It may have the bomb in six months to a year, and ways to deliver it threatening Israel and Europe.

Tens of millions of U. S. Citizens are out of work, or are working for dimes on the dollar, compared to what they were earning four years ago.  In Biden's own home town, the unemployment rate is 10%.

Medicare and Social Security are going broke.  Ryan and Romney have a plan.  Obama doesn't.

The Obama/Biden deficit spending is adding a trillion dollars to the U. S. debt each year.

Our military cuts are poised to destroy our defense industry, leaving us with fewer top rate defense contractors, and a military service on a par with our 1915 defense structure.

Obama/Biden have been a domestic failure.  They have been a foreign policy failure.  The nation is in serious decline.

I disagree that this debate won't move anyone in any direction.

First Obama wasn't serious.  Now Biden thinks it's all a great big joke.

Folks, you're underestimating the damage Biden did to the ticket last night. If CNN and NBC are picking up on it, severe damage has been done.

Twitter: media put off by the grinning/laughing jackass Biden

Weekly Standard’s Mark Hemingway: “Joe Biden’s laughing through talking about Iran sanctions?”

Washington Examiner’s Philip Klein: “Biden’s strategy seems to be to laugh at Ryan constantly. Will it work to infantalize Ryan, or backfire like Gore sighing?”

NBC’s David Gregory: “Biden’s smile is out of control.”

BuzzFeed’s Ben Smith: “So did Biden practice laughing at Ryan???”

ABC’s Rick Klein: “Biden on verge of breaking down in laughter when Ryan talks.”

Former Eric Cantor staffer Brad Dayspring: “Joe Biden needs to realize this isn’t a Senate Foreign Relations Hearing. His laughter and condescending attitude is a disaster.”

Radio host Neal Boortz: “Looking like Biden’s gameplan is to laugh his way through this.”

Townhall.com’s Guy Benson: “Will Biden laugh his ass off at the terrible economy, too?”

MSNBC’s S.E. Cupp: “Biden needs to laugh a little less through the Libya, Middle East, nuclear Iran segment.”

Washington Post’s Chris Cillizza: “Ok. I have decided. I find the Biden smile slightly unsettling.”

PBS’ Jeff Greenfield: “Biden has always had a smile that at times is really, really inappropriate.”

Washington Examiner’s Paul Bedard: “Can’t tell yet if Biden’s smirking, laughs, eye-rolling, head shaking, works for him or not against the oh-so-young looking eager Ryan.”

Former White House press secretary Ari Fleischer: “Biden is at risk of having his laugh come across like Gore’s sighs. He should knock it off.”

The New York Times’ Ashley Parker: “Biden’s grin is Chesire Cat caliber.”

Republican strategist Ron Bonjean: “Biden laughing does not come off with the intended effect. It is actually hurting him. Looks very condescending.”

Movie critic Roger Ebert: “Joe! Stop smiling and laughing!”

Washington Times’ Emily Miller: “Biden laughing when he disagrees with Ryan is so annoying. Like a child in time out.”

Washington Post’s Jennifer Rubin: “Biden’s laughing is losing the debate- obnoxious”

Out of 26 undecideds in the FOX focus group, NOT ONE changed their vote based on the VP debate.
