(Reuters) - Russia will not renew a decades-old agreement with Washington on dismantling nuclear and chemical weapons when it expires next year, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov was quoted as saying on Wednesday.
The death of the 1991 agreement, which had been renewed twice, is the latest in a series of hitches in relations between the United States and Russia and casts doubt on the future of the much-vaunted "reset" in relations between the Cold War-era foes.
"The basis of the program is an agreement of 1991 which, by virtue of the time when it was conceived, the way it was worked out and prepared, does not meet very high standards. The agreement doesn't satisfy us, especially considering new realities," Interfax quoted him as saying. . .

An observation here: I'm old enough to remember when the stated goal of the left was "unilateral disarmament." The conservative response was to point out that the Soviets still retained an enormous and growing nuclear arsenal that needed to be countered. The left's reply was "if we disarm first, they won't have a need for it and they will disarm too! (Pass the reefer, will ya?)" Well, we have now mostly disamed, and guess what? The bear is building bombs and missiles like it's 1962 all over again.
The goal of the Left, and by extension their sock puppets the Democrats, has always been to leave the USA helpless before our enemies. They are about to get their wish.
It needs to be at LEAST 7500—with a few(100 or so) High—yield warheads-(>5MT )—instead of what we are left with now..because I am SURE the Russkies have NOT done away with all of the SS-18’s with the 25MT warhead...and even though they are old and outdated...I am sure a FEW of them could still make it here—and kill a whole REGION—not just a city—each...

Another reason for having a higher number that 300, they are not all stationed in silos in America. There are warheads deployed around the world, including mobile units.
If you’ve got them where they don’t do any good, you might as well not count them at all.
