A congressional oversight panel wants to know when the Obama administration became aware of significant technological issues at a renewable energy company it helped fund, including the propensity of its solar panels to burst into flames when exposed to the sun.
Abound Solar Manufacturing was awarded a $400 million line-of-credit in taxpayer-backed loans from the Energy Department (DOE), and is the third company funded by President Barack Obamas stimulus plan to go bankrupt, along with Solyndra and Beacon Power.
Republican Reps. Fred Upton of Michigan, chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, along with Cliff Stearns of Florida and Cory Gardner of Colorado, sent a letter to Energy Secretary Steven Chu on Wednesday instructing the agency to turn over certain information on the loan.

Isn’t that what they are supposed to do?
LOL!
Yes indeed. They are designed to provide the home owner(s) enough electricity for the rest of their lives.
(however short that may be)
Hopefully Obama and thugs will all be gone come January then the committee will get it.
The design is sound, it just needs a little tweaking. Another $400 billion should do it.
LOL
A single panel might be an amp or two or three. They must be talking about some kind of bussbar situation with enough amperage to do something dramatic.
Obama finds a way to improve the housing market and everyone complains...
Solar panels that catch on fire.....cars that catch on fire....this President is a pyromaniac.
He golfs while Rome burns.
Most panels are 30 volt at 7 to 8 amps.
I got 60 of them so I wanna know more !
Wait...do the panels themselves burst into flames, or does the balance sheet of the company that makes them burst into flames?
“...this President is a pyromaniac.”
You can’t say that! That comment is flamist!
You forgot to mention Embassies.
This is the funniest thing I’ve read all day.
***The design is sound, it just needs a little tweaking. Another $400 billion should do it.***
Reminds me of an old movie THE ADVENTURES OF MARK TWAIN in which he is talked into financing a new “printing” press which ate up all his money. “A few more thou$and should do it!”
You are correct; I was confusing a smaller portable panel I have with a couple of larger panels mounted on my truck. The larger panels are rated at 7.5 amps each and measure about 23 volts at full exposure.
