After Romney's remarks, Barbara Doherty told Boston's WHDH 7News that the GOP nominee shouldn't invoke her son that way again.
"I don't trust Romney," she said. "He shouldn't make my son's death part of his political agenda. It's wrong to use these brave young men, who wanted freedom for all, to degrade Obama."
Romney has amplified his criticisms of Obama's foreign policy and defense record with a speech on Monday that fact-checkers and the Obama campaign said was rife with errors and policy reversals

Did Romney even mention her son’s name?
The deaths of the Libyan Ambassador and the three others, as well as the deaths of U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan as a result of the ROE’s of the Obozo administration NEED to be politicized by the GOP. War is politics by another means.
But a mother's wishes should be respected.
I wonder if WHDH sent someone to ask the SEAL's wife what she thought of it.
I don't even know if he was married.
My guess is that he was. If that is indeed the case, I would also guess that WHDH sent someone to ask her and she's okay with it.
Otherwise, they would've run with THAT story.
I am sorry if I said anything disrespectful and for that I apologize. I applaud your son’s bravery for serving our great country. My point was that I want to know what happened to this woman’s son, and I would think she would want to know too, but it seems her allegiance is to Obama and not to finding out the truth, but I was wrong for saying what I said, and for that I apologize
This is the same woman that is saying this now? How the hell can she call her son’s death a “Bump in the road” is she nuts?
So, instead of a heart warming story about how wonderful her son was and about how wonderful she and her family are, her preference is to simple be “bumps in the road.”
Moron.
not sure but this one has psychopath Cindy Shehag written all over her. She’ll probably be featured in Obama ads before the next debate.
She has her views. I am not sure I would want my son’s name used either. If this was Obama discussing how he met some dead SEAL and he would be discussing it on the campaign trail, how would you feel???? Would you be giving Obama a high five??????
I just read your history. You seem to have a soft spot for Obama.
Not that I’m condoning the rational of this women, who is quite obviously biased herself anyway........but the Romney campaign should be more careful. This is a stupid stupid mistake that gives the communist treasonous media an opportunity to show him up.
There are literally thousands of stories of countless heroic American service men and women that deserve national attention.......to use his own words, on this occasion he picked a loser!
Read her posting history. She is an Obama supporter.
Just wow. How did a SEAL end up with a mother like that? He obviously rose above.
The caskets were diverted from Dover to Andrews AFB to be used as stage props for a special Obama photo-op/evening news feature.
What an insane paradox. She's offended by Romney anonymously praising her son, but is not offended by Obama making a political speech while using his casket as a prop.
Like Cindy Sheehan. Being used by the left.
Shame on her.
Religion should absolutely be kept out of our military as it should be kept out of our government. Our founding fathers were very close in time to the terrible religious wars in England and Europe, and knew well the dangers. Especially when dealing with a potentially hostile religion, it is even more important to appear neutral. As to the observation that this former SEAL was part of a freedom from religion group reminds me once again of the tragic Tillman killing. It has been rumored that he was “fragged” because he was an Atheist. If religion in the military were not being an issue, his religious beliefs might not even have been known much less been the possible cause of his death. We must all remember our Constitutional right to “freedom of religion” also includes the option for “freedom from religion” which recent polls indicate is the option of 10% to 20% of Americans.
“More like the mother of a murdered son marrying the murderer after the fact.”
I prosecuted a case where that happened. In addition to being mentally deficient, the lady was a grade-A whack job.
I prosecuted another case where an estranged husband shot his wife in the forehead; she lived, recovered, and went back to him. At least in her case, I knew she suffered from brain damage.
These people do exist, and I pity them.
I wonder if Mrs. Doherty thought that the mother of Tyrone Woods was politicizing her son’s death when she complained about the government’s delay in investigating the attack. I hope Mrs. Doherty enjoyed that pre-printed sympathy letter she got from Obama or the State Department.
I should have known..Thanks for pointing that out to me I had no idea until I read the posting history. I just didnt want to get in trouble with the moderators for posting that so I took the high road
Nope.Once someone gives their life in service to the country he/she becomes a "public person" who can be praised (not criticized) by anyone...including any Presidential candidate.I suspect that just as is the case with Cindy Sheehan and her deceased son, this woman's son is far more respectable than is the mother.
