Did Obama Just Throw The Entire Election Away?
The Daily Beast ^ | Oct. 8, 2012 | Andrew Sullivan

Posted on 10/08/2012 7:11:27 PM PDT by Free ThinkerNY

The Pew poll is devastating, just devastating. Before the debate, Obama had a 51 - 43 lead; now, Romney has a 49 - 45 lead. That's a simply unprecedented reversal for a candidate in October. Before Obama had leads on every policy issue and personal characteristic; now Romney leads in almost all of them. Obama's performance gave Romney a 12 point swing! I repeat: a 12 point swing.

Romney's favorables are above Obama's now. Yes, you read that right. Romney's favorables are higher than Obama's right now. That gender gap that was Obama's firewall? Over in one night:

Currently, women are evenly divided (47% Obama, 47% Romney). Last month, Obama led Romney by 18 points (56% to 38%) among women likely voters.

Seriously: has that kind of swing ever happened this late in a campaign? Has any candidate lost 18 points among women voters in one night ever? And we are told that when Obama left the stage that night, he was feeling good. That's terrifying. On every single issue, Obama has instantly plummeted into near-oblivion. He still has some personal advantages over Romney - even though they are all much diminished. Obama still has an edge on Medicare, scores much higher on relating to ordinary people, is ahead on foreign policy, and on being moderate, consistent and honest (only 14 percent of swing voters believe Romney is honest). But on the core issues of the economy and the deficit, Romney is now kicking the president's ass:

By a 37% to 24% margin, more swing voters say Romney would improve the job situation. Swing voters favor Romney on the deficit by a two-to-one (41% vs. 20%) margin.... Romney has gained ground on several of these measures since earlier in the campaign.

people with alleged common sense and a little knowledge of how elections work are watching these polls like a bird watchin a worm.

instead we need to be spending that same time and energy volunteering at a campaign to do something important that will really make a difference.

The Pew poll is a fake. More Republicans were sampled, more Romney supporters were sampled. It’s a fake swing. Ask yourself, why is an enemedia polling outfit like Pew working so hard to manufacture such a large swing? And why is Andrew Sullivan completely ignoring the internals of this poll and crying doom and gloom?

We’re being played, folks. This is a massive media misdirection, and it started with Soetoro’s ambien-induced sleepwalk through the first debate. The stories of BHO’s miraculous comeback are already written for the next one. They’re going to give him all the momentum they can generate before the election.

Don’t read this crap, don’t react to it, don’t take satisfaction in it. Ignore the enemy and his psyops.

Obama doesn’t care what the election says. He’ll fight it tooth and nail ala his pal Raila Odinga.

I would suggest that there has been a big swing, but Obama was never ahead in the first place. Slanted polls have tried to build momentum for that bum who has a terrible 4 year epic fail record.

Pace youselves brothers and sisters, there is still a long way to go before election day.
I keep expecting the “October Surprise” (but I’m beginning to think 0’s quiver may be just about empty) ... nontheless, Chicago politics can get very dirty and as long as there is hope for a change in the direction of the polls they are going to keep slinging carp.

Anybody know a good fat-lady singer ?

I would say from the next day remarks and backpedaling on Obama’s part, that remark would be applicable to Obama too

Obama’s real name just might be Nicolae Carpathia, coincidentally a character in the book “Left Behind” - - - - .

Amusing, coming from a hysterical 0bama supporter.

There were so many phrases in the piece which betrayed the obvious bias of the writer.

Romney needs to knock 0bama into oblivion in the next debate. I hope he can maintain his confidence, performance, and momentum. I hope we saw the real Romney in that first debate. We already know what the real 0bama is...

True but I thought that about the first debate, too. It was hilarious after it ended to surf around to CNN, MSNBC, etc. Hard not to spike the football!

Good point. Countless times I’ve wanted to chuck a brick
at the TV when a GOP politician sits there stone-faced
while a ‘Rat politician rants on about how Republicans hate
the middle class, women, minories, or (fill in the blank).

Good on Romney for having the stones to do what the vast
majority of Republican so-called leaders never get around
to doing.

Didn't we just go through a month of posts saying that ALL the polls were rigged, even the FNC and Rasmussen were rigged? Didn't Rush tell us that all the polls were rigged to make it look like Obama was winning? Wasn't that just a week ago?

DA-DA, The polls are honest again just like they were right after the RNC, Hallelujah, we can believe them now, well until........HA_HA

I know, don't say it :”Go back to DU”.
