A prominent Ivy-League professor denounced Columbus Day and mocked those who celebrate it by releasing a list of individuals he deems are the 15 most overrated white people on Monday.
Marc Lamont Hill, Associate Professor of English Education at Columbia University, wrote that the holiday is one of Americas most bizarre cultural rituals and that he finds it perplexing people continue to praise the vicious conquistador as a hero.
To honor the true spirit of Columbus Day, I have created my own list of overrated white people, he wrote in his article published on the Huffington Post.
The list includes Elvis Presley, Ronald Reagan, Babe Ruth, William Shakespeare, Tim Tebow, among others.
Elvis didn't write his own songs (despite taking credit for them), barely played the guitar, and was a worse actor than the entire cast of Belly, wrote Hill.

“he finds it perplexing people continue to praise the vicious conquistador as a hero.
The descendants of those “vicious conquistadors” are now poor oppressed Latinos, doing the work Americans refuse to do. It’s enough to make a lefty’s head spin!/s;)
OReilly calls this guy Doctor. His PHd is in African Studies.
Does that make him a witch doctor?;)
Italians aren't Caucasians?????
I heard this idiot with Ann Coulter on Hannity’s radio show today. A typical, condenscending liberal twit.
Italians aren't Caucasians?????
Exactly how many black pitchers are there today? Much less back then.
Ruth didn't have to run fast...the ball was out on the street somewhere!!!
Liberalism: Feel the Hate!
My list was also off the top of my head, and we came up with some of the same names.
The idea of some nitwit making up a list of overrated people of another ethnic persuasion is so idiotic it’s costing me IQ points just responding. I harbor a strong suspicion that Hill is just doing this to get his name broadcast. Ignoring this piece of stupidity by the big names in media would be the best course.
My idea as well. I think he's just trying to hook some people into equally idiotic responses. Either way, serious or not, he's a moron.
Not to mention Elvis.
He simply mixed up Cortez and Columbus. After all they both start with a C. I mean, it could happen to anyone, right? /s
That’s okay.
You are an overrated loser who ratings with the ladies is more abysmal than the schmuck in New York.
“Is this that gay guy thats on Fox now and then?”
Shep Smith?
Anyone who professes to be a social justice activist and organizer and one of the leading hip-hop generation intellectuals” belongs on anyone’s “most overrated” list. But a university that hires him as an Associate Professor should be advertising on the back page of a comic book.
My grandfather—now long gone to his reward—said all the Indians he met were worthless. He said ‘The Good ones fought and died for their land—all we have now are the cowards who stayed in their teepees.’ He was a westerner—rancher—who lived in Wyoming—born under a covered wagon. He was a man of his era.
The notion of the "singer-songwriter" being the ideal, from the 60s, has been one of the greatest disasters in musical history.
The two skills are utterly unrelated. This can be seen by authors. I often listen to books on CD while driving. Occasionally one will be "read by the author." Most of the time, not always, it's a disaster. Much less effective than when read by a professional in that particular skill.
Imagine if we insisted that actors write their own lines, or screenwriters become actors.
They bring him on now and then to demonstrate how ridiculous our education system has become, and how little actual accomplishment it takes to win that Affirmative Action college degree.
