John B. Gurdon of the U.K. and Shinya Yamanaka of Japan shared this year's Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for their work in so-called cellular reprogramming, which has unleashed a wave of advances in everything from cloning to the possible treatment of diseases using stem cells....
It also allows scientists to create human embryonic stem cells without having to destroy human embryos, sidestepping an approach that has long been fraught with ethical controversies. Most important, perhaps, it has significantly advanced the prospect of using a patient's own mature cells to create fresh tissue and treat disease.

Sadly, not so. Embryonic stem cells were quickly adopted as a cause celebre by advocates of the Culture of Death, and they will not easily abandon this weapon.

Okay, I take it back. The Nobel Committee can get “one thing” right after all. My former comments about them not being able to get anything right, should be amended to address them very seldom getting anything right.

Not defending anything, just wanted to point out that aborted babies produce adult stem cells as the cells have differentiated into specific tissue types.
