The ad is titled Dinner Table and features a recently unemployed father trying to eat dinner with his worried wife and two kids. The only sounds that can be heard are the tinkling of utensils as the family unnervingly pokes at their food. It is a scene that has been played in real life in millions of homes across America during the Great Recession and the so-called recovery.
After 23 seconds, the ad, which was created, written, and directed by Jon Kahn, then fades to a black-and-white question on the screen: 12.1 million Americans unemployed. Isnt it time to try something different?"

I heard the rain the 2nd time. There have been a couple of times I had to feed my 2 cats instead of myself.
I COULD NOT imagine a mother or father in that position.
WOW!!! Just, WOW!!! What a powerful ad!!!
Now, will the average idiot (typical MSM/American Idol viewer) watching the ad understand it?
It actually saddens me.
F**k Obama, his Party, his agenda and any and every thing associated with him.
But the true unemployed number is something like 23 or 24 million and climbing, not shrinking.
We were there 25 years ago - with two young kids. Unemployment line and all. It was awful.
May we cosign them all to the dustbin of history.
I meant that the father wasn’t a stepfather. It is assumed that the children are the mother’s.
I saw it as an original family unit. Very young children can have blonde hair and grow up to have a different hair color.
Amen Darth, amen.
It cannot be 7.8, must be over 16% unemployment across the nation.
He owns a ton of land in Berrien County Michigan he bought out of tax sales. When he got off on the bribery charges I knew he still had a ton of juice.
The only way that ad could be more effective is to have tv audio in the background of a news report about the Obama’s latest vacation. Imagine the visual of the family worrying about their existence coupled with the audio of a “tv report” of the O’s extravagence.
I don’t think I can watch this. That describes my own family’s dinner table for most of the years since the Democrats took over Congress in 2007. It got even more acute after Obama was elected.
By sheer determination and hard work, my wife and I have slowly begun to climb out of the pit in the last year or so. It’s a nightmare I don’t ever want to go through again.
You bet your azz it’s time for something different.
Bingo. Which is why so many will relate to it, then vote in their own best interest.
If we were talking about your garden variety of lib I might agree. But the left in the last 8 years or so has gone full foaming at the mouth rabid on us.
You're right, but remember that the truly rabid left only comprise about 20% of the population. The rest will react appropriately to this ad.
They can use my house, I’m an American of Chinese descent. Out of work for three years. I’m 63, too old to get hired for fulltime job.
FBO with a vengence.
I hope that’s not what I think it is....... :(
I can, because I've been that father and husband, since the Democrats took over Congress in 2007. It's almost too difficult to talk about to others.
I just thank God that my wife and I have had the strength to tough it out (somehow) and slowly begin pulling ourselves out of it.
