Catholic activists unleash attack on Obama
Washington Examiner ^ | October 5, 2012 | Paul Bedard

Conservative Catholic activists, facing polls that show President Obama gaining among the famously politically split church community, are striking back at the White House with more than 1 million voter guides that fail the president on seven key religious liberty issues.

Angered by Obama's demand that religious facilities provide health insurance that includes abortion services despite their pro-life principles, the new voter guide grades the president with an "F," and Mitt Romney with an "A."

The new Catholic Association(PDF) voter guide does not include abortion, good for Romney who has shifted over time to be pro-life. The focus instead is on the group's belief that the administration is assailing the liberty and rights of the Church and religious institutions.

"Over the past four years, the Obama administration has put forth divisive policies and government regulations that that ignore our First Amendment protections and erode the religious freedom of Catholics and people of faith," said Maureen Ferguson, senior policy advisor to The Catholic Association(PDF).

"Imposing the HHS mandate on Catholic charitable organizations and employers was just one example where President Obama chose politics over the common good," added Ashley McGuire Senior Fellow of The Catholic Association(PDF).

More than one million copies of the guide will be distributed across the country in English and Spanish. The voter guide is available with or without logo so that activists are able to rebrand the guide for their own separate groups. The guide is also available online for printing and distribution across social networks.

The sad thing is that there is absolutely nothing for any Christian to like about Obama or the Democrats. They are all about envy, jealousy, covetousness bitterness and theft. They want people to look to government to meet their needs and solve their problems, that is, they put government in the place of God. Pure idolatry.

I'll take the candidate who has shifted from pro abortion to pro life over the candidate who was and remains pro abortion.

Not only a candidate who remains pro abortion but is pro partial birth abortion, and who would deny medical attention to a baby born during a failed abortion attempt.

You're a sick man, Barack Obama.

If federal funding can be authorized to force its citizens to engage in tenants against their religion, what is to stop the same federal funding being used to force its citizens to follow tenants FOR a particular religion, like Sharia?

Very slippery slope once engaging in activities not mentioned in the Constitution. Not mentioned means there is to be no involvement either way unless there is an amendment to the Constitution.

I figured out long ago that Osama Obama was an atheist (despite his claims to the contrary) who has utter contempt for all truly religious people....that is,those who believe in *legitimate* religions (which obviously rules out the Religion of Pieces). To him,I'm nothing more than a “bitter clinger”.

I’ve seen a recent ad here in Florida about a person who survived an abortion. Her story is moving and just the thing the GOP needs run. It is a very powerful anti Obama, the all abortion all the time advocate, candidate. The man has no morals. A heathen mongral he is.

I agree. I am mystified by some conservatives’ hostility towards Romney vis-a-vis abortion. Romney was always sincerely opposed to abortion — nobody disputes he tried to talk women out of having them — but he used to think that abortion's being legal was a settled issue. Over time, he realized that our laws reflect our values, and he opposed legal abortion. Did he switch initially for political reasons? I don't know, and I don't care. When people do the right thing, I leave it to God to judge their hearts. In any case, anyone who thinks Romney is some kind of ringer for the Planned Parenthood crowd should ask someone affiliated with PP about that. I HAVE asked pro-choicers if they consider Romney a stealth ally and the PP folks ask, “Are you serious?”

Yup. He’s an infanticidal maniac. Even NARAL was not opposed to the Born Alive Infant Protection Act. Mitt’s record is certainly checkered, but it is better than Omoloch’s!

Ecclesiasticus 13:12-17 Cautions in the choice of company

If thou be invited by one that is mightier, withdraw thyself: for so he will invite thee more.

Be not troublesome to him, lest thou be put back: and keep not far from him, lest thou be forgotten.

Affect not to speak with him as an equal: and believe not his many words. For by much talk he will sift thee, and smiling will examine thee concerning thy secrets.

His cruel mind will lay up thy words: and he will not spare to do thee hurt and to cast thee into prison.

Take heed to thyself, and attend diligently to what thou hearest: for thou walkest in danger of thy ruin.

When thou hearest those things, see as it were in sleep: and thou shalt awake.

“Conservative Catholic activists, facing polls that show President Obama gaining among the famously politically split church community, are striking back at the White House with more than 1 million voter guides that fail the president on seven key religious liberty issues.”

I wouldn’t be too concerned with Pew polls. A 52% -48% lead I can believe. A 54%-39% lead favoring Obama after all he has done to the Catholic Church and its followers...laughable.

Can someone explain to me why the Catholic Bishops do not simply announce that the day those rules go into effect will be the day that Catholic schools, hospitals, nursing homes, etc will close?

Just guessing here, but it seems certain that the bishops recognize that shutting down all of that is the desired effect. The “progressive” weasels want only public schools, government monopolies on health care in all forms. What the bishops should, but unfortunately probably wouldn’t do is to simply announce across the board noncompliance. Quote the more common translation of Saint Thomas Aquinas on unjust laws at the O crowd and defy the government to act. I don’t think it’ll happen, but it seems much more appropriate, in my feeble opinion.

For the same reason that they (Many of them) won't say that it is a sin to vote for these pro-abortion democrats. They are out right cowards. Our Bishop (DeLorenzo of Richmond) refuses to do a D@MN thing.

1. That gives them what they want - forcing religion out of the public square, and forcing private providers out of the industry they are herding toward single-payer/state-owned monopoly.

2. They have all those employees and patients for which they are responsible.

If the “polls” in general are fake because they over sample Democrats and under sample Republicans why believe Pew and Gallup when they tell us Catholics who voted for Obama by 6 points in 2008 when he was not a threat to us are now ready to vote for him by 12 points when he has proved he IS a threat to our religious liberties?
