I don’t care how smart Obama is. He was completely over his head in the debate and had absolutely no idea of many of the things Romney was talking about. His lack of knowledge all things economic was apparent as was his awareness of the Constitution. The MSM can spin it any direction they wish - Obama was out of his element.

That's a good point. These partisan leftists in the MSM ask themselves incredulously why Obama never mentioned things like the "47%" comment, Paul Ryan's own votes on Medicare, etc. -- as if Obama had deliberately refrained from bringing those subjects up.

What dingbats like Matthews don't realize is that the much simpler explanation is likely to be the correct one: Obama never brought any of these things up because he doesn't have a clue about them. He can't count to 47, he has no idea how Paul Ryan voted on any issue of substance in Congress, and wouldn't know the difference between a billion and a trillion if you gave him a month to figure it out.

I don’t care how smart Obama is.”

I’ve always found it interesting that some people think just because someone has a high IQ that they are smart. Watched Jeopardy recently. Three high IQ people in their 30’s competing who knew a lot of weird stuff. But two questions none of them could answer - What month does the Electoral College meet and in what month does the 2012 Session of the Supreme Court begin. There was also a category whose answers were about people involved in the original Constitution and only one was answered correctly. Sad state of affairs.

Obama is average. He has gotten where he is because he ‘used’ his blackness. Along the way he has had many people covering for him. The media helped make him president. When he is left to his own devices, no pre-written speeches and no media to cover for him, it is obvious that he is on the lower scale of average.
When you add in the fact that he believes his own bs, and theirs, it makes him especially vulnerable up against someone who knows what they are talking about. He falls apart. I don’t expect it to get any better. Now he is pissed which will make him erratic.

I got the impression that O had memorized certain responses and lead lines. That was his “homework.”

When Romney failed to let a point go, and good for him I might add, he would default to one of those lines. Often not even in the context of what was being discussed at the time.

I agree with you, I don’t think he knew what was being discussed most of the evening.

No TOTUS, no adoring cheering crowd, no media shield...bad night for O.
