President Barack Obama's lackluster performance in the first U.S. election debate provoked uneasiness in European capitals on Thursday, where hopes are mostly, if unofficially, pinned on his securing a second term.
....there was particular consternation at Romney's singling out of deficit-ridden Spain as a poorly administered economy.
"Spain has never been mentioned in a presidential debate as a symbol of failure," the left-leaning newspaper lamented. "What happened last night makes history. And not in a good way."

Very amusing. Although one tidbit caught my eye: “Leading Spanish daily El Pais highlighted the fact that Spain was the only European country mentioned, and contrasted Romney’s negative depiction of it with Obama’s praise for Spain’s renewable energy policies during the 2008 campaign.”
Let’s hope that Romney has learned his lesson on that one. It’s one of the reasons why the Communists who took over the Spanish government succeeded in ruining their economy. I’ve heard that Spain has now dropped the windmill nonsense.
Breaking News Europe - many of us in the US, will not save you next time. We never should have gotten involved in WW I. There was absolutely nothing at stack for the US in that war, and it was not worth a single American’s life to become involved.
I just cannot ever see a reason to spend one American life defending or retaking Europe regardless of the circumstances. Europe is not worth saving, in my humble opinion.
Nothing pleases this Jewish Republican more than the thought of Europeans, who subjected Jews to expulsions, ghettos, pogroms, and gas chambers, lying awake at night, worrying that little Israel is going to cause WWIII!
With the exception of Poland, the Czech Republic, and Italy (only because I LOVE Italian women and Italian food), Europe can drop dead. Submit to your moose limb masters, dhimmis!
Luke Baker’s DNC check is in the mail!
How much do they charge?
I have to say the people were uber-friendly on this European trip.
“Hopes” for what??? By who??
Are they wishing for economic collapse?
