On Sunday, the Senior Editorial Board voted to no longer use the term illegal immigrant when reporting on immigration issues. Out of preference and habit, it has already been the practice of our reporters and editors to opt for the word undocumented.
We believe that the modifier illegal unnecessarily offends our readership while the word undocumented is a more effective and objective way to describe ones immigration status.

Idiot liberals.
“Barbarian invaders”
I agree with this decision. “Illegal invaders” is much more accurate.
Even if it offensive (which it is not - it’s descriptive) - shouldn’t it be up the readers to make that determination rather than a unilateral decision by the editors?
newspaper announces it will live in a world of its own imagination instead of reality
In favour of ‘wetbacks’?
Media death watch. They wonder why.
You have my deepest sympathy.
Controlling the terminology of the debate gives one side a HUGE edge. Guess which side is winning, as this trend continues.
If the objective is obfuscation, that is entirely true.
I have never had any level of misunderstanding of the word 'illegal.' It is a simple description. It is objectivity in its purest form.
Let the 'Rats play the word games.
Darn straight. ‘Bout time someone said it.
They’re not illegal aliens, they’re Invading Barbarians.
“...ones immigration status.”
Oh, that ‘twas only one...
Surprising to hear that they’re switching to “wetback”.
Illegal Alien
Acceptable Characterizations:
New Democrat Voter
Undocumented Resident
Unexpected Border Crosser
Maybe I just travel in the wrong circles.
I have just one question for these ignorant overgrown children : Would it "unnecessarily" offend to wear a tee shirt with the words "LEGAL IMMIGRANT" on it?
The Daily Cal strikes a blow for Orwellian Newspeak.
“Politically correct” is the politically correct phrase for “F%#^ing retarded”.
