Apparently, in the City of Brotherly Love, geometry teachers easily confuse this
With this:
Racism has again raised its ugly head in this presidential election and it has filtered all the way down to the classroom level where, in Philadelphia, a high school student was threatened with assault by her geometry teacher last Friday for wearing a Mitt Romney t-shirt.
According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, last Friday was dress-down day for students at Charles Carroll High School in Port Richmond. One female student decided that she would show her support for Republican presidential candidate a Mitt Romney by wearing a Romney t-shirt.
Thats when things turned ugly for her in the Democratic school.
The teacher allegedly told the girl to take off the shirt, saying it was like wearing a Ku Klux Klan sheet. The teacher allegedly threatened to use a marker to cross out Romneys name and that of Rep. Paul Ryan, his running mate. The teacher also allegedly tried to throw the student out of class.
The teacher also allegedly said that Carroll was a Democratic school.[Emphasis added.]
The Inquirer reports that an investigation is going on.
Philadelphia School District spokesman Fernando Gallard confirmed that last Friday at Carroll, a teacher made some comments to a student wearing a Romney t-shirt in their classroom. The comments were of a political nature, and also of a personal nature. We are looking into the comments, and the conduct of the teacher.
It appears (based on a review of the schools website) that the offending teacher is likely to be a male. However, given that Philadelphia teachers are represented by the American Federation of Teachers, it is doubtful that anything more than a hand-slap will be issued to the teacher.
This so-called teacher need to be fired. I don't care what it takes, the teachers union cannot protect this POS.
absolutely true...she needs to go now..
Bump
The last paragraph states the teacher is “likely to be a male.”
These Amish teachers can be so hard to get along with.
They said it was “likely” a male. If that’s the case the Father should get involved and say, “if you ever get within 10 feet of my daughter again, I’ll kick your ass so hard you’ll have to do a hand stand to go #2”!
We have some dangerous people “nurturing” our children and “shaping” their attitudes. Little wonder we have a generation that thinks Obama should be President because he is “cool.” They are TAUGHT that stuff. Obama is the result if such teaching.
the student should have given the geometry teacher a history lesson and reminded him/her that the KKK were/are southern dimocrats, i.e. Robert “Sheets” Byrd
Nice shirt, but I’m getting “We’re all mad here!” from ThinkGeek.com.
I agree, the teacher should be fired.
If we started tomorrow, it will take two generations, at least, to sweep these vermin and the damage they have done to our young out of the “schools”. The quickest and best way is to eliminate “public” education (which has become mostly pubic and political education) and replace it with a voucher system. Granted many of the new education mills would still represent the values of an ignorant population but at least some of the enlightened would be able to move their off springs into learning centers away from the commie socialist education camps we have now.
I smell a red herring
If a male teacher told a female student to remove her shirt perhaps it’s not a political matter.
The schoolyard punks seem to have taken postions as teachers.
IMHO
NBC 10 Philly - Philly Student Told to Lose Romney T-Shirt or Get Out
I know a few Arizona Mom's that could do that to an offender no matter what the offenders Gender.
Imagine if their ethnicities and party identifications were reversed and a teacher screamed personal insults at the student, threatened to write on her clothes and told her to take her clothes off.
That teacher would be in custody right now awaiting a bail hearing and possible federal charges for civil rights violations and, if she were 18, voter intimidation.
By the way, the school website lists two mathematics teachers: a Mr. Lee and a Mr. Ould-Babaali.
Can’t speak to the student body, but the school is located in a 94% white area.
