The Real Real Reason Romney is Losing
The New American ^ | 02 October 2012 | Selwyn Duke

...Republicans are befuddled when they see Obama leading among voters. One common explanation is that the polls are rigged. And while they’re no doubt flawed and the race likely closer than they indicate, it’s unreasonable to think Obama isn’t at least slightly ahead of Mitt Romney; moreover, if Romney’s internal polls told a different story, he’d certainly trumpet them.

...The other common explanation is that Romney is a poor candidate, too ideologically weak, too stiff, too blue-blooded, and too hard to connect with. But to whom are we comparing him?But this is scary to consider. It’s more comforting to talk about Romney’s or the GOP’s faults, which are easy enough to find, and believe our problems lie in our wanting political stars, not ourselves. “Why, all we need is the right candidate — a true conservative! We need bold leadership in the GOP.” Or it could be, “We need a vibrant third party.” It’s a nice dream. But “Where are all the leaders?” is the wrong question; it should be, “Where are all the followers?”

Of course, it was the failure of those who allowed the institution of our ridiculous immigration policies.

Spearheaded by none other than the Coward of Chappaquiddick, Teddy Kennedy.

By contrast the 2012 GOP platform is the most Conservative one in their history.

The planks mean nothing if the party is unwilling to even attempt to implement them.

No matter how much you hate Romney, no one with a brain would refuse to see the stark difference between Romney and Obama on social issues.

Like homosexual marriage? I seem to recall Romney being involved in implementing "domestic partnerships" for his state, and there's Ronmeycare too.
How can you trust the two-faced ass-monkey?

By the way, the Surplus/Deficit chart you post means nothing because the debt is ever-increasing, regardless of the use of accounting that a private corporation would get busted for. With Romney Social Conservatives have a seat at the table, Obama will actively promote everything Soc Cons are against.

No, they don't; take a look at Romney's history with appointing judges who advocate homosexual 'rights' [preferences].

I didn’t claim that Reagan was liberal while he was governor; I stated that he endorsed a few liberal policies. That is in fact, true.

But you might want to take a lesson from Reagan’s presidency. He stated that he would rather compromise and get some of the things he wanted, than not compromise and get nothing.

Conservatives who refuse to compromise by not voting for Romney will get nothing under Obama. Except maybe, his gratitude for helping him win the election.

when we could of had a once in a life time leader serial adulterer, twice divorced quitter like Gingrich as our candidate which, (sic), would of destroyed Obama utterly would have been buried in a landslide.

There, fixed it.

Clinton is a democrat. Democrats don’t care when democrat politicians behave badly. Republicans do care when republican politicians behave badly. Well, you don’t seem to...and that has me wondering.

No, you said, "Reagan had a liberal record as governor of California." (post #24)

But you might want to take a lesson from Reagan’s presidency. He stated that he would rather compromise and get some of the things he wanted, than not compromise and get nothing.

Conservatives who refuse to compromise by not voting for Romney

Apples and oranges - officeholders face different options and outcomes than voters.

Well, here’s your choice.

You can vote for Romney in this election. Yes, you won’t know which Romney you’re getting.

Or you can sit this election out, which is essentially a vote for Obama. And then you’ll know exactly what you’re getting. I suppose you can console yourself by waiting until 2016 for a “true conservative.” But even if one appears and is elected, the damage to this country will have been done and will be irreversible. The Supreme Court will have tilted toward the liberals for the next generation. Obamacare will have kicked in, and by 2016, it will impossible to repeal.

If Obama wins next month, then for the next four years, he’s got nothing to lose. Since he can’t run for office again, he’s accountable to no one. By 2016, you won’t recognize this country.

Liberals won’t be to blame for this country’s downfall. It will be the so-called conservatives who sat this election out.

It leaves us with this: We are in this for the full ride to the bottom. Only when there is no other choice will austerity happen. And I am not just talking about the US.

I think we are headed for the worst time in the history of mankind. . . .

_______________________________________________________________

You may be right, that is why I tell everyone to stock up on food and precious metals, you know, like gold, silver, lead and brass.

Bad times seem very likely around the corner but, unlike you I do not believe that it has to be that way. My prescription is is full employment and high inflation for several years. The only way to pay down the debt is through inflation, thus reducing the real debt. Even with high inflation we will need to curtail our give a way economy. If people are working our dollar will remain the reserve currency, if we develop our own energy the oil prices will be cut in half or better. If we cut corporate tax to a maximum if 10-15% companies all over the world will want to locate here. The only reason we don’t have manufacturing here is the taxes, not the high cost of labor. Our labor costs are not high when you factor in their productivity because of education.

With low corporate tax rates the economy will grow dramatically and tax revenues will skyrocket, even with the reduced rates.

Right now only 60% of people who could work are. Think if the work force were increased by 2/3’rds. I know my numbers don’t sound realistic but they are. Right now 40 out of 100 people are not working that could and would if they had a job. If we put those 40 people to work it would represent a 66% increase in the work force, a 66% increase in tax revenues, and a comensurate decrease in welfare and unemployment pay.

Pouring extra money into the economy will send inflation through the roof because of the money that banks are holding but can’t use. That inflation will hurt seniors, me, but it is the only way out that is peacefull.

I think it possible, but unlikely that we will take my way out of the mess the Democrats have put us into and Obama is purposely running us into. Possible, but it will be difficult. It will be difficult to get Democrats to agree to low corporate taxes, difficult to get Democrats to let us use our own oil, as in drill baby drill and most difficult to cut government handouts so that people will have an incentive to go out and work.

Inflation is an invisible tax.

OTOH, there is Revelation 18:4 Then I heard another voice from heaven say:

“‘Come out of her, my people,’

Okay, I'm curious. Where will you go?

I've heard nice things about New Zealand. . . Personally, I think it's better to have the fight right here in the engine-room of the world. But are you saying you have other plans?

New Zealand is a beautiful country, but it’s also very liberal. I understand that if you reveal there that you’re a believing Christian, you’re viewed as a weirdo and are mocked.

—Okay, I’m curious. Where will you go?—

The context of Revelation 18 (and most of it, actually) makes this scripture something that is not speaking so much as a geographical loacation, but a culture. A way of life. A system.

In that spirit, two weeks before Obama was elected, I bought a small farm and home in rural, central Kentucky. In August of 2011 I moved there from my home of 45 years, Seattle.

Our chickens produce four times the eggs we could eat. We have a very large garden and goats and will be picking up a couple of beef calves this winter. I’m working towards solar, as backup at first.

We have “come out of her” the best way we know how. But ultimately, everything is in His hands anyway. And life itself is a mist. My favorite book in the OT, Ecclesiastes, covers it nicely.

I’ve said that the “courageous” Jews of early 30’s Germany were not the ones that ended up fighting for their lives. Rather, they were the ones that got on a boat to England pronto. Sometimes you choose your battles.

I’ve asked “How will things improve if Romney wins? What does 2013-2016 look like with a Romney presidency? The answer? I hope to be completely self sufficient before that plays out. He will slow down some of the incredible Obama mistakes, but I can’t see the world getting out of this without going through something worse than WDI and WWII. We’re experiencing the easy part of WDII now, and WWIII seems to be more clearly on the horizon with every passing day.

And regarding my current home, the scariest scene in any modern movie, for me, is the opening scenes of Inglorious Basterds because of its implications (there’s nowhere to hide).

I think all of the things you mentioned are sound. The problem is that I think all solutions have limitations. I think your solutions, implemented back around 2003 may have had a chance. I now think the problem is WAY too big, by several orders of magnitude, for any such solution.

The economic expansion necessary to resolve this mess is as unlikely as a janitor saying, “If I could just find a job that pays $4 million a year, I could get my debt under control in a decade or so.

Yes, I believe it’s that hopeless, regarding a human solution. The janitor is losing his home and possessions, and probably his wife. And the neighborhood he’s moving to is very dangerous.
