On MSNBC's "The Ed Show" tonight, DNC chairwoman Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) severely downplayed any expectations one might have of President Obama at his first debate with Mitt Romney.
Wasserman Schultz called Romney an "experienced and skilled debater," that he has done severe debate prep and that the incumbent has lost to his challenger in the first debate in previous election cycles.
"Let's not discount the fact that Mitt Romney is an experienced and skilled debater," Wasserman Schultz said to Ed while discussing the upcoming debate next week.
"Keep in mind though, he's a pretty decent closer, and he's had a lot of time to prepare for these debates. During the Democratic National Convention, reportedly he did a week of debate prep camp, he's gone through 48 hours and done five debate practices," Wasserman Schultz said in response to host Ed Schultz, who said Romney has been all over the place politically.
"President Obama has been practicing but he's got a day job and he's been trying to balance that," she added.
"He's going to be prepared -- just coming on to the stage with the President of the United States gives you some gravitas right there," the Congresswoman said.
"Five out of the last six first debates in a presidential campaign, the challenger was declared the winner. So let's just keep in mind that we can't take anything for granted. We're focused on the ground game, we've got 40 days to go," Wasserman Schultz noted.

Even if Zero breaks out in a flop sweat and starts talking in tongues as he walks aimlessly on and off the stage, the lame stream media will declare him the winner.
I bet Obama already has the questions.
Of course the LSM would still declare Zero the winner.
Yes, he has the questions already, and is practicing the robot answers so that he can spin them even without TOTUS. However, if he is put in a position where he will have to respond to something Romney says, he will be in trouble.
Romney’s best approach is to try to take a very unorthodox and unexpected position on an issue, and force 0bama to respond to it. Then you will see idiotic gaffes from 0bama that will make Joe Plugs Biden look like the greatest mind of the modern era.
Zer0 will probably have a mini teleprompter surgically implanted in his eye courtesy of NASA’s muslim techs so he can receive downloaded answers to the questions.
Precisely.
For the next week the media will create unrealistic expectations among their dumb sluts for Romney until even a great performance will be unsatisfying.
Then announce he 'failed'.
AND then quote the good things they said before his performance as proof they're not biased LOL!
Don't be fooled, DWS and the rest of the Dims are saying this now so they can rave how great our Dear Leader did. When expectations are low, anything average will be called a home run by the media. More psyops from the Dims and the MSM.
William B. J. Clinton: Master Debater or simply a Cunning Linguist?
I’m sure Obama has the questions.
There was an article last week (?) stating that both “sides” would be given the debate topics in advance, but I have no doubt that Obama will be/has been given the actual questions, and his team will help in formulating answers. The trick will be to make him look “spontaneous” and “warm/in touch with the people”. The cancellation of the practice debates with Kerry make me think there will be hush-hush script-readings and rehearsal instead.
But, even if Obama bombs it with all that help, he’ll still be declared a HUGE winner by the presstitutes, and the sheeple will eat it up.
“If Romney goes bulldog and attacks Obama like he did Gingrich in the Florida primary debate, he’ll win.
If he plays nice with the Marxist Kenyan, he’ll lose.
That simple.”
The media is going to say that Obama won no matter what. Now if it really is a blow out in favor of Mitt the media will say it was a draw and neither side won. Mitt can not be allowed to win his thing in the media’s eyes.
I’ve got to believe that more and more voters are figuring out what you and I already know! ;-)
Woops, I mean in my post 32.
Ain't that the truth.
According to the mainstream press, it's never happened that a Republican has won a debate. But once in a blue moon, they may "tie."
Come to think of it, they've been running that same excuse again lately, his grueling schedule.
Not to worry.. I remote viewed the 3 October debate.
MSM employee and moderator: "Okay gentlemen our first question is from President Obama's book Dreams From My Father.. on page . . . . "
On the other hand I decided to channel Obama's thoughts: "D'oh! Now I wish I wrote the book."
Whaat??
Obama has a day job?
I didn’t know that!
