WAYNE, Pa. — Mitt Romney declared Pennsylvania a battleground during a mid-morning rally here Friday, despite public polls showing him well behind in the race for the state’s prized 20 electoral votes.
“I’ve got a little secret here and that is that the Obama campaign thinks that Pennsylvania is in their pocket. They don’t need to worry about it,” Romney said during a visit to a military academy in the Philadelphia suburbs.
“And you’re right and they’re wrong. We’re going to win Pennsylvania and we’re going to take the White House.”

“Obama polled 47 percent to Romney’s 45 percent among likely Pennsylvania voters, with 6 percent of voters undecided and 44 days until Election Day, according to the survey by Susquehanna Polling & Research. The survey of 800 voters, conducted Sept. 18-20, has a margin of error of 3.46 percentage points.”

As a member of the Tea Party, we will be stronger regardless of who wins. We will hold Romney’s feet to the fire so that will keep us involved. And at least he unlike Obama might respond!

Schools in my area of Pa. are closed opening day of deer. It’s been that way since I was a kid in school. Back then none of the teachers and half of the students didn’t show up for school so they made it part of Thanksgiving vacation. I can remember during deer season the talk in homeroom every morning was what did you see, where did you see it and did you get a shot.
With respects red states and blue states, the Dems seem to have the old Soviet mentality, what’s mine is mine, what’s yours is negotiable.
Of course with a crappy economy like this, with plenty of angry and upset voters out there, the GOP has a good chance of picking up a number of states including PA that have trended Dem in recent years. Nothing is set in stone this year.
For what it’s worth, I live in L.A. I’m on the frewaays every day. Four years ago there were Obama bumperstickers and yard signs EVERYWHERE. You couldn’t avoid seeing them even if you tried. Today, it’s just the opposite, you actually have to out of your way and keep your eyes peeled to locate them.
Not predicting at this point that Obama will lose CA. I am saying there is absolutely no enthusiasm whatsoever for him this year compared to four years ago.
If Obama wins , the American dream, RIP.
It will send a clear signal that America is done with capitalism and freedom. That we have collectively embraced socialism. That will be the reality.
We will need to accept it and make alternative plans. The tipping point has no return.
If it truly is in play then obama is toast. However, this same dangling of it’s electoral votes happens every four yrs for republicans.
I would have to have some substantially hard internal polling data to commit my forces in Penn.
I also live in a fairly liberal Philly suburb — in 2008 there were at least 5 Obama signs visible from my front curb. This year = NONE — there are no Romney signs, either, but that’s not unusual, as there may have been only 2 or 3 for McCain in the entire neighborhood. I think many conservatives here feel “threatened” (for lack of a better word) and just vote quietly and don’t discuss.
Actually Unemployment is lower than national average here thanks to Marcellous Shale Drilling etc...
If Romney were to fight for PA I think he could win, but its obvious that PA is not being fought over, so I expect Obama to win, but his margin will be nowhere near the margin in 08.. Any poll showing a 10 point lead in PA for Obama is nonsense.
I Agree, I’d say the race in PA right now is about a 3-4 pointer, but Romney doesn’t seem to want to fight for it, so I expect it to end the day in that range. If they fight for it, I think its winnable, but they would have to really commit to fighting for it.
The number of angry blue collar life long democrats here is amazing! Obama has basically spit on the Blue Dogs.. and they are abandoning him.
Where I live, I get hassled by Dems. I had a McCain bumper sticker and had a mob of African Americans surround me yelling insults, about a week before the last election. At the polls they get aggressive, make you promise to vote Dem. If you don't, you just know you may have car problems when you come back out, or get a baseball bat in the face. So I agree with them, tell them I will vote Obama.
I no longer put bumper stickers on the car. It's too dangerous.
What you mentioned is very real (as you well know) and why I am convinced there are a very large number of blue collar dems that will QUIETLY vote for Romney but not tell anyone.

Exactly, and in my area, most conservatives tend to be older and/or were raised to be polite and non-confrontational.
I’ve already decided that, IF there is any sort of disruptive attempt at intimidation at my voting place, I will go directly to the police station and demand someone accompany me back so I can vote in safety. I will then make sure to contact my elderly neighbors and warn them, also offer to go back with them and get more help if needed.
I think Romney should go on offense. Campaign almost exclusively in the blue states place like PA, MI, WI, IA, MN, DE, MD, NJ, CT, ME,NM, OR etc...
RR carried all of those states. They are not cemented to theDems. It is this crazy red state/blue state mentality which keeps the GOP on defense all of the time.
Romney needs start talking about what he will do, how he will change things. Reform our insane tax code, reform out of control entitlements, block grant programs like Food Stamps and Medicaid back to the states, repeal Obamacare and replace it with health savings accounts, and allowing health insurance to be purchased across state lines, put people back to work drill baby drill, offshore and on public lands and in ANWR, build the damn pipeline,etc.
I could go and on. He has nothing to lose. If I were advising the campaign, I would say go on OFFENSE campaign in the blue states, throw the Dems off, and tell what your’re going to do once in office.
The voters have already decided Obama’s policies suck. But they are not going to vote for change this year unless they know what that change is going to be.
I agree that there seems to still be anger from the ‘Reagan democrats’ but there are so many idiot democrats out there that will vote for the POS no matter what.
You still thinking he won’t/can’t get above about 43%/44% on election day?
