Great link for "unskewed" polls
Thanks anna it was refreshing to see this :)
Please throw some more light on why these polls are “unskewed”...TIA
Romney up by 7-10? Utter nonsense.
Just go to the site and educate yourself. There are some great tutorials/explanations linked in the left-hand column. You won’t understand until you take the time to do so.
I’ve been posting the unskewedpolls.com link on threads for several days now, and Dick Morris and others have given lucid explanations on Fox News shows. It is imperative we get the word out so people understand that the easiest thing in the world to do is publish a piece of paper called a poll that contains nothing but manufactured BS and lies. Far cheaper than TV ads or any other way to influence an election.
Even one crooked pollster admits they’re crooked:
heheh and Matt Drudge gets almost a billion
viewers around the world. I found the link to
the poll from his site.
I was hoping to get a quick explanation of “unskewed” poll. It will save me a lot of time educating on the nuances of poll data.
I am fully aware how the pollsters use voting models from previous elections applied to raw polling data.
If by unskewed poll you mean it is raw data results, that also is erroneous because people answering pollsters are never in the exact ratio of who turns out on election day.

The website “unskews” a poll by adjusting it to Rasmussens most recent partisan trend model.

So lets not fool ourselves by holding our hands on our ears and looking at some website (unskewedpolls.com) that no reputable pollster has endorsed.

While I would agree with you about ‘holding our hands on our ears’, in general, it is also important to realize that the polls are anything but consistent, and there has been great splay from polls from different organizations, and from the same organizations day to day. I don’t think anyone has a good handle on what’s happening out there at this point. Unfortunately, I’m also not sure what a ‘reputable’ pollster actually is anymore.
Regarding Romney not challenging the poll numbers as strongly as you would have hoped, my general impression is that Romney never does anything publicly with strong passion. That’s his personality.
It also would benefit all of us to remember that we haven’t even had a debate yet.
That site is no different than a “fortune teller” or someone that “communes with the dead”. It’s a snakeoil salesman website selling wacky info to those looking for comfort.
Polling firms get paid to get it right. They don’t get it right and they are out of work. Voter ID is a very fluid thing and changes every single time a poll is done, chunks of the country do not statically self label Republican, Democrat or Independent. It is data that is discovered with each poll done.
Look at polls going back 30 years and you’ll see that polling groups are pretty good at what they do and people that get it wrong a lot aren’t asked back the next time around unless they are self financed. Rasmussen has been dead on most of the 2000s but keep in mind he was damn near the worst in 2010 by calling the generic congressional at +12 Republican and it ended up about +7.
The point is we need to stick with the average of all polls. The real clear politics average has been excellent since they’ve started and many other groups that used to do the same have been really good as well, rarely worse than +/- 3.
This unskewed polls site will accomplish nothing more than to give comfort to conservatives and make them complacent in thinking Romney will pull this off with ease. We need to be mad, energized and share our passion with others to get the turnout we need. The RCP average is now Obama +4 so we are near or outside of the margin of error on the losing side.
Ignore unskewed and do what needs to be done. Talk to friends, neighbors, coworkers. Volunteer to work phones ESPECIALLY if you are in a swing state. Check with your local campaigns and volunteer to put out signs, walk neighborhoods in tight precincts, etc. Let the polls ENERGIZE us to do REAL political work!
