An East Texas mother has a warning for parents after finding her young son playing with a pistol he found in their rental car.
When Jaymie Bates and her son, Matthew, left Enterprise car rental in Longview, the farthest thing from her mind was Matthew getting his little hands on a pistol.

Child endangerment.

Sounds like a nice bonus tho I admit I wouldn’t want a small child to find it first.
I’m pretty sure it’s mine.
Train them up in the way they should go, and they will not depart from it.

It is not uncommon for a Texan to be cleaning out his or her vehicle and find a firearm they forgot they owned, let alone that it was in the car. :P
Found a lovely Colt Woodsman under the passenger seat of my used Highlander. After a year, it had not been reported stolen, so I sold it. Car was for sale because of a divorce.
One of my first guns was a Colt Woodsman. I got it at Jimmy’s Pawn in Ft. Walton Bch around 1965.
He gave me a pretty good deal on it. Although it was used it was a nice one. Extraordinarily accurate. I think it was actually more accurate than most .22 rifles I have owned.
Personally I find that Monday is the worst day to rent a car from Hertz Local Edition, National or Enterprise.
They smell like a bad weekend party and the radio stations are set on crap I can’t listen to.
LOL, I know the folks that work at that Enterprise. I will need to go harass them about it (in a fun way).
The way gas prices are going, you should get a free gun with every fill-up.
Sounds like a set-up, for some bucks.
I could see a gun in a front seat, but why the heck would anyone stash one in the back seat?
He’s only one year old.

Yup! Wonderful piece! 1965, 100% bluing,,, just too nice and collectable to shoot. So I sold it, and bought a 1939 Gibson Grande Console Electric Hawaiian Guitar! Double 7,,, play it often!
And apparently has better vision than his mother does, if he found it and she didn't. Sounds like he's not too young to plop down in front of the boob-box and watch an Eddie Eagle video.

Four years ago, when my truck was being repaired after vandals took objection to my anti-Obama stickers, I rented a car from Enterprise and found a really nice multi-tool inside.
I found a quarter once.
I once found an expensive engraved knife in my old Buick. I can’t remember the name right off hand but I later sold it at a gun show for nearly a hundred dollars.
I tried for weeks to recall who might have ridden in the passenger seat but never could figure it out.
It is Texas, maybe rentals just come with one.
