SAN FRANCISCO The University of California has agreed to pay $1 million to settle a lawsuit filed by demonstrators who were pepper-sprayed during an Occupy protest at UC Davis last fall, according to a preliminary settlement filed Wednesday.
The Nov. 18, 2011, incident prompted national outrage, angry campus protests and calls for the resignation of Chancellor Linda Katehi after online videos shot by witnesses went viral.

ahh this is a moment... they just got their first paycheck.. oh wait, they still haven’t worked yet.
Kalifornia Taxpayers will be on the hook for this, and not the individuals personally making the decisions/orders.
wait.... didnt they sit down and ASK TO BE SPRAYED???????
Where are they planning to funnel this money?
Absolutely stupid.
They should FINE those occu-tards a million bucks for the damages they did to the campus during their rioting.
But nothing is normal anymore. Up is down. East is west. Night is day. And so on.
UC is being generous to their fellow Commies with CA taxpayer money. No wonder sane people with money are fleeing that decaying state.
It’s good to have an uncle who is a judge.
They should now go to China and lay down in front of a steam roller and see how that works out for them.
The world turned upside-down.
I’ll be pepper-sprayed for a million bucks.
Oh and I wonder if our troops will get million dollar bonuses to sit in tear gas?
And when are these leftist freeloaders going to pay back all the businesses they’ve interrupted? Or the residents who can’t enjoy the parks they’re paying for. The street closings. The traffic nightmares.
..I know one of these santa monica kids who got sprayed, and believe me, this leftist family don’t need the 30G settlement
Radio says 21 protestors get $30,000 each & another $100,000 set aside for future claims.
Next time, perhaps they should get more than pepper spray.
Factor in the overtime costs for law enforcement made necessary by these slugs’ presence all hours of the day and night.
The occupy “people” are just upset that the spray made them smell better.
The million dollars should take care of the clean up bill from that protest. Won’t happen though.
If we ever had one of those protests I would demand from my local government to know how much the clean up cost and why we should pay for it.
This sends a wrong message. Every occupy protester from now on out will defy to the point of physically being beaten or pepper sprayed. Then the real fun begins in the court system. The precedent has been set....uh oh.
Another way to redistribute funds.
Concentrated nitric and hydrochloric acid readily come to mind. Or cyanide.
