The elections are won on turnout ~ not by converting the other side to vote for your guy.

As Axelrod knows so well, Democrat voters are difficult to convince to vote ~ some of them must literally be beaten, and their hands held to mark an absentee ballot.

How does having unrealistically optimistic polls get them to vote? They would be more likely to stay home because they think the election is in the bag.

Does that work in states like Vermont, California, New York, Illinois, Massachusetts? Or even Utah or Oklahoma?

If not, why not?
