In his latest gaffe, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney lamented the fact that airplane windows don't roll down.

Maybe that was his plan
He probably said this just to prove how stupid and biased liberals are.
“His latest gaffe.”
Yeah, no bias there.
In some airplanes the windows most certainly DO roll down.
Someone help me remember—What did National Geographic have to say about Obama’s 57 states comment?
Would it help if Romney called the MSM out? It’s obvious that he said this as a joke, yet the sheep all fall in line that Romney’s stupid.
I think he should call a press conference and call these lame bastards out. Tell them to start focusing on the issues and not on stupid shiite like this.
Don’t worry. This “gaffe” is just another “speed bump” in the road.
He has been on plenty of airplanes, he knows about the windows. Can’t he tell a bad joke occasionally?
Think of what a huge gaffe it would be if he said “I’ve been told I’m just eye candy” or called a terror attack “a bump in the road”
In an Airplane!, when time for paying the fuel bill, the window most CERTAINLY rolls down. How else is a pilot to give the attendant his credit card?
Condescending pricks. I think anyone without a severe partisan ax to grind would give Romney the benefit of the doubt that he knows there’s not much air at 35,000 feet.
Read the comments and you’ll quickly get a sense of the leanings of this rag’s readership.
Reading the comments only confirms that the knowitall oh so smart scientific weiners posting on that site have not a shred of common sense.
Maybe. But there has been several accidents where rapid depressurization occurred and there were no fatalities. Injuries were caused by flying unsecured objects.
Wishing you could open the window is actually less idiotic then the absolute claim that "everybody would die".
Maybe Mitt has flown in plenty of smaller, single or multi engine prop planes that you can in fact open the window. Heck some don't even have doors or windows.
Anyways mid-east still on fire, Obama still incompetent, and the press is worried about Mitt wanting to open a window.
The problem I have with the whole thing is noone seems to give thought to the fact that Romney was probably replaying (in his mind) the emotional distress he was feeling at the time.
Many people say things they might not otherwise say, if they are thinking clearly and not emotionally distracted.
Hours, days, or years later a person will relive those emotions when discussing stressful events. I give him a pass.
I would think that might be helpful when the plane is full of smoke, as Ann Romney's was(?)
People who were there are saying it was an obvious joke.
How many people who have been left sitting in an airplane on the tarmac for hours with no A/C running have ever wished they could open a window? I use to fly out of Philadelphia and planes were always delayed for hours. A little fresh air would have been nice. I doubt if he was thinking about opening a window at 30,000 feet. Most people in airplane fires are usually on the ground where more avenues of escape would be a positive.
SMOKE REMOVAL requires both over-wing hatches to be OPENED and stowed, the aircraft slowed, and the smoke-removal hatch above the pilots' station to be OPENED.
Dumbass press wouldn't know an airplane from a lawn chair.
