Writer Catherine Poe is correct in saying GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney used fighting words when he recently called DREAMers “illegal aliens” (DREAM Act: Mitt Romney still calls DREAMers ‘illegal aliens’ at Univision’s Latino Forum,” Web, Thursday). More importantly, Mr. Romney’s words are dangerous and illustrate how out of touch he is with the immigrant community. How can someone claim to advocate for a “permanent solution” to fix our broken immigration system when he dehumanizes immigrants within the same breath?
Mr. Romney must drop the I-word. Why? The I-word, short for “illegal alien,” “illegal immigrant” and like harmful terms, is a racially charged slur used to strip immigrants of their humanity.

Drop the “illegal alien” and go back to “wetback”.
If it was good enough for politicians in the President Reagan era it should be good enough for us.

Then on June 17, 1954, what was called "Operation Wetback" began. Because political resistance was lower in California and Arizona, the roundup of aliens began there. Some 750 agents swept northward through agricultural areas with a goal of 1,000 apprehensions a day.
By the end of July, over 50,000 aliens were caught in the two states. Another 488,000, fearing arrest, had fled the country.
By mid-July, the crackdown extended northward into Utah, Nevada, and Idaho, and eastward to Texas.
By September, 80,000 had been taken into custody in Texas, and an estimated 500,000 to 700,000 illegals had left the Lone Star State voluntarily.

I don’t care if we call them any of your choices as long as they are kicked out and get in line. Too many people fill out the paperwork and wait their turn to allow this to continue. Some say you can’t hunt them down, but thats not necessary they show up, at the ER, Schools, Malls, Job sites. Our laws should be the exact immigration laws Mexico uses. Voting too. You can’t vote in Mexico without a voter ID. Why is this so difficult to understand. We are a Nation not a mall. The 14th admendment was never intended to allow ILLEGALS the right to slide into the US while in labor and drop a kid. Its intent was to guarantee citizenship for blacks after the civil war. Anchors belong on a boat not a person. I spent 20 years in he military and my youngest was born in Korea. She was not offered Korean citizenship. The only ay to dehumananize someone is to abort them. The motto should be Your Human and you ass is headed beck to you own Country.
When real Americans had their own country.
