'How I Met Your Mother's' Neil Patrick Harris confirms this season is the last

Many scenes of the popular show are created right here in this seat.
September 20, Neil Patrick Harris confirmed in an interview that he believes season 8 to be the last for the show. Craig Thomas, the writer of the show, is scripting the show as if this could be the end, however, writers are preparing to start working on season 9 as a backup plan. The reason for this potentially odd predicament is that CBS has not yet renewed the contract for a ninth season and is unsure if they want to.

Oh, your mother? She was the woman I had a one night stand with back in season 2.
Funny show but it kind of lost track of its premise. I guess that's better than dragging me in and then canceling after one season.

'How I Met Your Mother's' Neil Patrick Harris confirms this season is the last S/B - I'm Neil Patrick Harris and 'How I met your Father'.

Thank Gawd.
They need a clean sweep. Just dump all their prime time crap and put something watchable on

He was cute as Doogie but lost this fan when he had to advertise his colors.

I thought Two and Half Men was the most obnoxious TV show until I saw How I Met Your Mother. Both shows send me scrambling for the remote.

I saw the show for about ten minutes once and wondered why it was on at all.

I hated Doogie !
The premise was simply unbelievable!
Yeah a 14 year old doctor, how high would the malpractice insurance be at that hospital !
He was a prat in Doogie and continues to be one in the present show which is only watchable for about 10 minutes.

Neil Patrick Harris is a talented actor. When I watch him on the show, I do not view him as “gay”.

Was hard for me to buy NPH’s character as a womanizer after he came out. Had I not known that it would have made him more watchable in that role.
TV doesn't care so much about high ratings so much anymore. The goal now is to get fair ratings enough to get to 100+ episodes for DVD, downloads, and foreign sales. Syndication is still big but not what it was.

I think the weak link of the show is Jason Segal. I do not find him funny at all.

Watched this show one time because I was visiting a DIL who thinks it’s a scream. Disgusting hook-ups are just so hilarious, aren’t they?

Seems like one of those yuppie
shows NBC used to stick in between
Friends and
Seinfeld. Like
Conrad Bloom. The kind of stuff people recognized as junk and didn't watch. Standards are lower nowadays.

Your post is VERY accurate. They make tons in syndication so even if they get so-so ratings they will make money which is why for example Parks and Rec and Community are still on the air....waiting for that magic 100.

It worked well for Rock Hudson (and quite a few other Hollywood actors you’d never imagine were bent). Hollywood and the acting profession in general is filled with ‘em.
