Welcome to the Canteen, Alex...and thank you for the link to Felix Rodriguez’ story. He, too, is a hero. He knows the effects of communism and fights it anywhere...sadly even here.

I failed in my first attempt, but am learning from my mistakes.
No lives were lost, so I think we’re okay...

Good evening, Mac...*HUGS*...day is VERY quiet. Strange sort of, but I'm getting a lot of little things done.
We had some excitement on Saturday....
The guy across the street called our next door neighbor to let him know it looked like the tree was headed for his driveway and possibly garage.....the high winds had started again and with so much rain trees are falling down all over the city. There were several really BIG gusts after he and his son got the tree down...I'm thinking just in time. They used a ladder and our chain saw to trim limbs up the trunk. Then used his pick-up to guide the tree fall onto his driveway after removing all their cars. Then they cut off the 15' stump.
The offending tree...can't find a summer picture.

Glad to hear you were able to get that taken care of without property damage or bodily injury.
When I was still a teen, we lived in an old (1906 vintage) farmhouse that had been overtaken by suburban development. We had lots of trees in our huge back yard, including Silver Maples, Black Locusts, a Plum and a Mulberry. The Mulberry was near the rear of our lot and overhung the neighbor's driveway. My father went out one afternoon to cut back the overhanging portion of the Mulberry. He hooked up a block and tackle well above the point where he was cutting - but to make a long story short, the block and tackle failed and the entire branch, which was a foot in diameter at the cutting point, fell ruining our back fence. The bulk of that limb lay across the neighbor's driveway, and the upper reaches had brushed his dining room window on the way down. Luckily, even though he was home, his brand spanking new Oldsmobile was not parked in the driveway. However, his dinner was one I'm sure he remembered up until his last day.
My father and I went over and removed all the debris - I can't remember where we put it until it was carried away. I still have visions of the old gent sitting at his dinner table enjoying his Lasagna when the tree fell, brushing against the window of his dining room.
