LOS ANGELES Space shuttle Endeavour, now a permanent resident of the state of California, has traded its winged chariot for a set of custom wheels.
Early on Saturday (Sept. 22), the shuttle was hoisted by cranes off the modified Boeing 747 jumbo jet that flew it to a landing at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) the day before.

I would have have loved to have seen it. I guess Willow Creek was to far north for it’s route.
It was flying low enough to clearly make out the tiles on the shuttle.
"American Exceptionalism"....are we still allowed to say that?
Agree, that is a spectacular outrage. TX should have got the Enterprise, not NY.
What a great idea it was to have Endeavour fly over so many landmarks.
There were a lot of kids watching where I was. Who knows how many of them will be inspired to seek a career in space exploration.
Wow...I thought you posted a spoof, until I kept watching...Scary stuff.

Hunter Schroeder was dressed for the part as he waited with family for the shuttle Endeavour to land at LAX.
Awesome!
The space shuttle Endeavour flies over the Queen Mary on its way to LAX as people on the decks take photos.
The pilot of our plane actually turned the plane around and taxi’d back so that passengers on both sides of the plane could see it. This truly represents American exceptionalism.
At the Proud Bird Restaurant near LAX, patrons watch the second fly-by of the Shuttle Endeavour.
