A Christian-owned chain of hobby shops is facing a bitter backlash after suing the Obama administration over new requirements to provide insured employees with contraceptive and abortion coverage.
Oklahoma-based Hobby Lobby filed the suit Sept. 12 in U.S. District Court in Oklahoma City, alleging that the ObamaCare mandate violates the religious beliefs of the company's owners. The suit followed similar suits by Catholic colleges and a Denver-based company whose owners also objected to the mandate on religious grounds. While a judge has not yet ruled on Hobby Lobby's suit, a Facebook page calling for a boycott of the company, which operates 500 stores in 41 states, has appeared online, and several other forums have featured posts urging customers to steer clear of Hobby Lobby.
Im boycotting Hobby Lobby! reads the heading of one posting on image posting site Flickr. Even if you're pro-life this kind of action stinks to high heaven! If things like this can be allowed then what's next?!, the user added.
Others have taken to social media to protest against Hobby Lobby, with a Boycott Hobby Lobby page on Facebook.

Hobby Lobby owner David Green is a devout Baptist who owns one of the world's largest collections of Biblical artifacts. The Barret Fund for Religious Liberty, which represents Green in his suit, argued that compliance with the offending portion of the health care law that the nature of their suit is would force religiously-motivated business owners like plaintiffs to violate their faith under the threats of millions of dollars in fines.

I think I already pay the electric bill at our Hobby Lobby...
It is a great store and they are also closed on Sundays for religious reasons.
People!! We need a Hobby Lobby Appreciation Day!!
Great place for quilters/sewists to buy fabric and supplies.
the facebook page currently has 154 “likes”.... not exactly a windfall in terms of support. Not sure why this is even newsworthy... in fact since I found the page... it increased in likes to 154. Thanks news media for “creating” a story.
My current #1 hobby is building scale models (from scratch, mind you). Guess where I spend a lot of lunch hours. I'll get some extra balsa tomorrow. I'm sure that I will have a use for it.
There is one in the next town over. This is an excuse to check it out.
They’ll buckle like Chick-fil-A did. The sexual deviant lobby in this country is way to strong thanks to the public’s new found obsesssion with homosexuality.
Yup. Big time! I'm going to do my part.
Well if you shop this weekend, make sure you shop on Saturday. They are closed every Sunday.
There’s a Hobby Lobby a mile from my house. They aren’t open on Sundays, so they aren’t about that profit all the time even on the Sabbath mold. I’ll drop by tonight and buy my art supplies for the rest of the year.
Do they sell Mike’s Train House locomotives there? I am sure I can find the dosh to blow a nice steamer from the premier lineup on the anti-boycott day.
blow *ON* a premiere steamer... that is.
I was wondering when Hobby Lobby would be in the crosshairs.
Just want to say thank you to the posters here supporting Hobby Lobby. Not too long ago I took a paycut, thank you nObama, and my wife took a job there to meet the bills. Its a good company. They treat their employees well. She worked in the framing department and she learned a lot. They are closed on Sundays like Chick-fil-A. They don’t provide a lot of what I would call “career” or full time jobs but they fill a role within the community. They helped keep us in our house!
Yeah, I think it's more girl-related (fabrics and craft-type stuff), but it was still neat to poke around in.
I need to pick up some Christmas lights. Looks like Hobby Lobby will be getting that business.
Did I miss something? Chick-fil-A buckled? What happened?
Nice store, nice people....I will always support them.
There are 4 stores in MD, I found when I visited their website. However, none are near where I live now, on the Easter Shore.
I guess I will need to order from them online....
Thank you!!
I’ve wondered how the Christian Book store chains would react to Obamacare.
