MSNBC's Ratings Wins Spur Calls for a New Host: Anthony Weiner?
NewsBusters ^

On Monday and Tuesday, MSNBC won over Fox News in the ratings in the key demographic of viewers 25 to 54 -- the prized audience for advertisers. Rachel Maddow had bigger ratings in the demo than longtime cable-news ratings king Bill O'Reilly. In their time slots, Maddow defeated Hannity, and Lawrence O'Donnell beat out Greta van Susteren in those numbers.

It was different during the primaries. At that time, all the liberals were promoting Romney and bashing the conservative candidates, and the FOX RINOs were gladly piling on.

The world is melding as is the Nation and if a group like the GOP for instance does not become inclusive then it will slowly shrink in base.
***********************
The world can meld, I like a sovereign USA and I’m no fan of globalists.

I think the GOP has shrunk its base already—they’re not too inclusive to the TEA Party, Evangelicals etc..

After this election I expect to see a new party for conservatives, if Romney wins or loses.

I think the GOP will be for blue dogs and the democratic party will be for the socialist/communist/Marxists.

Bill O’Reilly only cares about ratings and his salary. Better ratings mean higher salary. He has been cynical like this ever since he had to pay out a few million (about 5 years ago) to hush up a sex harassment suit. He had to make it go away if he wanted to keep making the big millions. Last I heard he gets 14 million a year

Go here for ratings details for Sept 18:

http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/the-scoreboard-tuesday-september-18_b146535

The 25-54 group is much smaller than total audience. For example, Hannity has 513 25-34 viewers and 2246 total viewers. In total viewers Fox beats the others in all slots.

Seems odd that the 25-54 group is such a small fraction of total viewers. There sure must be a lot of people outside that age range.

The 25-54 group is prized by advertisers but we’re concerned about potential voters, not buyers of stuff. So politically not sure that 25-54 is important.

“There is NEVER a love fest for Romney on Fox...they have so many liberals on their shows, plus the Fox talking heads also do a good job of bashing Romney. For every positive remark they make sure to get a negative in there somewhere.
At least the liberals all have their talking points and NEVER veer off the BASH ROMNEY/PRAISE OBAMA menu. NEVER!!!”

Bingo. Fox has turned into a 24/7 bash Romney session. Every nite they slam Romney, the pundits give him their lousy and voluminous advice, they have on allegedly conservative guests that bash Romney, the guy can’ catch a break. As if it isn’t bad enough that Romney has virtually all of the televised MSM against him, and one half or more of Fox against him, plus half of the so-called conservative pundits against him, he has Rupert Murdoch against him, probably whispering in his Fox employees’ ears to slam Mitt every chance they get. Who’s slamming him, you ask? Try O’Reilly, Cavuto, Shep Smith (of course), Ingraham (mercilessly, she’s making me sick), Malkin periodically, Krauthammer, Steve Hayes, Brit Hume, Bill Krystal (24/7), most of the political panels on Brett Baier’s show, and Greta’s show, need I go on?

I can barely watch any of the programming on Fox Cable anymore, and if I (a political junky) feel that way about Fox, I can see where their numbers may be dropping in the ratings because of like minded individuals who are sick of their schtick. If I want to watch Romney/Ryan bashing (and yes, they are slamming Ryan too, just to a lesser extent), then I can go watch PMSNBC which is now unwatchable 24/7. And when I come to FR, that too can be iffy, as there is still a large contingent of Romney haters still on board here, only modified for some by the fact that Ryan was added to the ticket. If this guy Romney wins, it will be a miracle, as never has a candidate had so many open or covert enemies bad mouthing him or wishing him ill. Good luck Mitt, you’ll need it.

Hope your mainstays Mitt, your family, religion and circle of loyal friends can pull you through all of this while maintaining your sanity. You’ve got a steep hill to climb, and by the way, the biggest contingent of Romney haters is of course, the Obama Admin and his henchmen lurking in Chicago, as well as all of the Dems. Man, it will be a miracle if Romney can pull it off. Good luck sir, you’ll need it.

Flaglady is absolutely correct in her assessment. There's no love fest 24/7 on Fox for Governor Romney. Almost all Fox hosts and pundits praise Romney with faint damns and damn him with faint praises in the next breath....when they even bother giving him a few minutes of positive reportage.

The Factor Show is particularly pernicious as O'Reilly gives cachet to a whole passel of leftists, anti-America-ites, anti-Romney-ites, and outright communists....enabling them to exerecise a degree of influence with uneducated masses plus obtain lucrative speaking gigs, writing-gigs and TV gigs from the exposure and notoriety received through O'Reilly's liberal gifts that keep giving.

If and when Romney wins, it'll be in spite of Fox News, not because of it.

Also, despite Hannity's sometimes annoying persona and obvious flaws, he's the ONE TRUE CONSERVATIVE on the Fox evening line-up.

After O'Reilly's show is over, one is almost panting for Hannity because he's absolutely fearless in putting on hard-hitting segments exposing the left, he will pin down his occasional lefty guests without mercy, and he's unrelenting in investigatory reportage other shows won't go near.

Hannity is like a breath of fresh air for conservatives when it comes to show content.

Leni
