Monsanto Roundup weedkiller and GM maize implicated in ‘shocking’ new cancer study
The Grocer UK ^ | Septembe 19, 2012 | Elinor Zuke

The world’s best-selling weedkiller, and a genetically modified maize resistant to it, can cause tumours, multiple organ damage and lead to premature death, new research published today reveals.

In the first ever study to examine the long-term effects of Monsanto’s Roundup weedkiller, or the NK603 Roundup-resistant GM maize also developed by Monsanto, scientists found that rats exposed to even the smallest amounts, developed mammary tumours and severe liver and kidney damage as early as four months in males, and seven months for females, compared with 23 and 14 months respectively for a control group.

“This research shows an extraordinary number of tumours developing earlier and more aggressively -particularly in female animals. I am shocked by the extreme negative health impacts,” said Dr Michael Antoniou, molecular biologist at King’s College London

...GM crops have been approved for human consumption on the basis of 90-day animal feeding trials. But three months is the equivalent of late adolescence in rats, who can live for almost two years (700 days), and there have long been calls to study the effects over the course of a lifetime.

I don’t know any man that can out create God. The fools keep trying at our expense.

“God makes corn just fine.”

No offense, but you don’t know much about corn then. That’s like saying we shouldn’t have any modern technology.

Here is a picture of the corn that God made:

Later, God also gave us the intelligence to unlock the genes in this primitive plant to improve it greatly and feed billions of people

The pics of these poor tumor-ridden rats are beyond the pale...absolutely hideous.

Rats don’t live very long, and many of them die from cancer in their old age for no environmental reason. You have to die of something.

We don’t need a better corn. The corn available in the store sucks compared to what we has when I was young.

Before anyone has a heart attack over this study, numerous other scientists in the field have serious questions about the validity of the study due to the lack of controls.

Sounds more like one more BS study. Kind of like the Harvard professor who says she has a cigarette pack sized piece of papyrus dating back to around 400 AD that refers to Jesus’ wife and a female disciple.

“The corn available in the store sucks compared to what we has when I was young.”

If you are talking about fresh corn in the produce area; that would not be GMO corn at all.
It probably doesn't taste as good as you would like because it is a lower sugar content sweet corn that might ship better
Come here to Iowa and will find incredible tasting fresh sweet corn.
It isn't shipped far; and the growers can use the high sugar content varieties.

There’s a large variety of heirloom seeds for non-GM tomatoes, and such tomatoes can be found for sale.

Not surprising and that would be my expectation. Would love to see where their grant money is coming from!!

Oh man, Global Warming Food story, with even less science behind it.

Buckle down folks, as long as I’ve been on FR I’ve said that the American Farmer wouldn’t let Americans starve, and they won’t, but these Leftist anti-science, human haters have been given almost the power of Stalin. Just look at our cars to see what I mean.

Stalin starved 30 million people to death in one of the great breadbaskets of the world.

It may happen here.

Time to buy a couple of gallons of Round Up for future use...if anything does a good job, time to have a report that says its bad for you, remove it from the market...

I have come to believe that the most sincere form of worship is the recognition of the total perfection of God’s design. I am convinced that the cure for every disease can be found among the bounty He has provided and that many diseases are the result of our deviation from His plan. I am fearful for this world because there seem to be so many in places of power who think they can do better than God Almighty. Pray...a lot.

We rank 50th in life expectancy compared to other countries link

France ranks 14th..one of counties requesting more investigation of GMOs. Ex-Monsanto people are in the FDA helping make US policy. More independent studies are needed. (Imo)

Yep. Every domesticated plant or animal has been genetically modified in one way or another. It's amusing how hysterical people get over GM food, as if any agricultural products are somehow pure-free from human manipulation.

That being said, I use Roundup on the weeds in the alley and vinegar on the weeds in the play area.

buy straight Glyphosate.

Round-up in the little squirt bottles is only about .5%. you pay about $7 bucks for a quart of water and a spritz of Glyphosate.

Can buy 2 1/2 gallons of 41% for 30 bucks at the farm store.

one jug will last the rest of my life
